No tinware on drag engines?
Been cruising around the net and noticed a lot of VW drag engines have no tinware, why so?
Going to attempt to answer my question, obviously you eliminate the drag of driving the fan and I guess the engine doesn't get hot enough in the
short time it is running.
Is this the reason or is there any other reasons you don't see tinware on VW drag engines? Thanks........

You have answered your own question. Some still run some form of cooling system so they can drive back to pits and to just cool heads down as well.
Those using methanol rely on the fuel to help cool heads as it is a lot denser fuel and doesn't generate as much heat on combustion.
For those running methanol have I got this right to some degree??

There's also the weight factor... generators and alternators are HEAVY !!!
Probably 5 kg or so in the tinwear too at a guess.

Have to be some truth in that I'd think... know from guys I race with who've switched across to E85 that they use 20-30% more fuel, but the engine
runs 10+ deg C cooler.
