fuel milage???
gday, ive recently had my kombi motor rebuilt and was hoping some one could answer some questions. its a 2 ltr with new 40 mm webers with a big bore
kit,how many k,s should i get out of a standard tank of 98 octane???the best ive got is 350k,s driving it easy. its been back for its run in services
and has always back fired in some way whether it be small pops or the occasional back fire is this normal for a new engine??? thanks to any one that
could give me some help cheers |

has it been dynoed to get mixtures right , did the person who set carbs get it adjusted properly ?? if popping out of carbs under acc could be too
small an idle jet or air leak or shit hpmx's

should never back fire if every thing is correct...
NO air leaks anywhere
No fuel leakage in carbies
VWs don't get good MPG unless its a 1200cc standard beetle..
My mileage had always been bad... at 100 KLMs You could nearly see the gauge go down...
that was running a Bosch 009 distributor..
changed to a SVDA from aircooled.net and mileage has maybe doubled... and driveability is much much better...
very smooth advance..
I'm only running a single carby on 1600 single port engine.. in a beetle beetle
and only use 98 octane petrol

Our bus at its best with standard twin carbs on an 1800 engine. It got 10l/100km, which would have given us about 500km from a fuel tank. That was
going easy on the highway with a 2 litre gearbox.

How many litres did it take to fill the tank back up after you did the 350Ks??

My rebuit 1600tp currently gives around 10lts/100ks on the the highway and a round 12-14 in town. Thats a standard carbi but from what I ve read on
earlier posts thats about normal. Biggest thing is the cost of fuel. I use bp ultimate and at $1.61 a lt. its expensive. As a daily driver shes no
better than my old commdore but I'd sacrifice that for the pleasure of the Dub any day
