vw world record

A couple in America have driven their 2012 VW Passat TDI with six speed manual an incredible 1626 miles without refueling. Thats over 2600km in a standard car driven during the day with real traffic conditions and included luggage for two ! Talk about a light foot  You would really be challenged by driving in such a manner, I mean most people like to rev their engines past 1200rpm.........

I love the ads on telly where they say something like "800 kms on just one tank of fuel", they don't say how bloody big the fuel tank is though:spin:

This makes a mockery of the Toyota Prius.
I was told the other day that the carbon footprint of a Prius from birth to death equals that of a Hummer.
Some way to save the planet, right?

An australian motoring magazine last year compared 2 new VE V6 commodores ( 3.0lt and 3.6lt), a 4.0lt falcon and for interest sake a TDI Passat. When driven on the freeway section of the test the passat returned sub 4lt /100km and they thought they might have done a miscalculation because they couldnt believe a spacious torquey family car could go that low, but I believe it now.

worse actually. its beating dead horse. everyone know the prius is a monstrosity with its carbon foot print. Generally the old the car the less the carbon foot print over the life cycle of the car.

I get 1600km out of a fill up and I drive a 4.2litre turbo charged V8 Dielsel Ute.:D

Doesn't matter one little bit that one fillup is about 170 litres.
