Case vacuum pumps
Hi all,
Does anyone have any experience with vacuum pumps for helping relieve windage pressure in the case?
I've seen talk about venting the rocker covers (although not 3-4 it would seem as that can get too oily!) and putting a vent where the fuel pump went
(can't do that cos it's where my turbo oil return goes), and the pumps I have seen are mechanically driven.
Anyone know of or seen electric pumps? Do they work? Are they worth it?
Tried searching thesamba too but there's a mountain of stuff when you type 'vacuum' into the search!

whether it's electric or mechanical you'll still need a vent off your case.

Hi Stanley, do you think the breather that comes off the oil filler would be enough or should I put another vent somewhere. I was thinking I could
hook up a pump to the breather tube that currently goes to my vent box...
Or maybe where the distributor used to go...

I have vents on both tappet covers and have replaced the filler with a breather box, its large enough to sort out any oil issues, it does not vent oil
at all, this is on a 2275 with a fk87 anf 10.8 CR. it still has the rear pulley scroll seal and does not leak there.

Fix the problem that's causing the high crankcase pressure, not the symptom.
Vac pumps are for ultimate race engines that are chasing every last ounce of horsepower.

Thanks Matt. You're right, never good to just chase the symptom. I don't really have a major issue, was just looking to see if it was worthwhile.
I will, however, vent the rocker covers as well to make sure it's free to breathe!

Get the largest breather box you can. I like the CSP one with 4 1/2 inch fittings to go to the engine and 2 more for venting that are separated from
the others by an internal baffle to try and keep oil and air separated. You could go one step further and try run the 2 vents to the intake between
the air filter and turbo instead of just venting to atmosphere, but try not to suck oil through.
