VDO speedo
Took my aftermarket VDO speedo in to have it repaired, the oddo stopped working a while back then kicked in again then stopped again and a bit after
the speedo gave it in.
As it wasn't acurate anyway I told the fella at the VDO shop what size the front tyres where so it could be adjusted or whatever to read accuratly
but he advised me that it didn't matter what size they are as it is precalibrated. Sounds wrong to me but what do I know, any thoughts?

If you know what percentage it is out they can make a inline gearbox to change the speed of the cable as it enters the speedo, its just as easy to get
a new electronic speedo and calibrate it yourself.

Hmm, thanks for that vwo60, have been contemplating an electronic speedo but just can't make up my mind on what type so I have been using my Garmin,
trouble realy is that as it's in the buggy there's FA room to add much in the dash or behind it. I would have thought that as the speedo works off
the rotation of the wheel then the diameter would have been critical, the VDO man seems to think not.

Hi Donn,
I believe that VDO Guy just wants to fix what is broken in Your Speedo, and not to do anything difficult....
or He thinks that adjusting the actual speed is like tampering with the klms on the speedo which has been in the news lately...
so, if a gear has split or cracked or worn out He just wants to replace the broken part..
cheers
