Incar fairy meadow, down in Wollongong did the crab bar in our Kombi. Simple and hassle free. Cost $400. Wouldn't see why they wouldn't do a beetle.
Probably could do just an anchor point instead of the crab bar. Give them a call

Costa,
Littles baby restraints in Blacktown put the bar in my splitty and fitted seat belts. They went to a lot of trouble to hide he bar and even mounted it
behind the vents so you can't see any fixings. They even recommended an engineer to certify the install. Was about $600 from memory but it was 8
years ago, but still using the bar today.
Need to have a chat with you if you could PM me your number please.
Cheers
Steve

Not too hard to fit. I just drilled the firewall and used the approved anchorage bolt kit.
You can see the back of the anchorage kit near the engine lid hinge.

Haven't got an interior shot. Pretty boring pic, just be a shot of the anchor kit drilled through the firewall carpet.
You dont have to have a CRAB bar

I don't know if it is too late, but here is an interior photo of my child restraint anchor point. Mine is up higher, and the washer ect is in behind
the cooling vent - fidly to get at but do-able.
I originally had it installed by a mob called 'Crowd Pleaser Seats' in Wauchope (they specialised in 3rd row seating in station wagons & 4 wheel
drives, as well as child restraints) when we bought the car in the mid 80s.
That was for our kids then, and when they grew up, I removed it. I re-installed not long ago for my grandson.

Looks good!
People have spoken about having a bar installed i take it its a CRAB Bar?
In terms of not drilling holes i have heard there are holes already in the back to put the bar in?
I found some pictures not sure if this is what they are talking about?

I take it Aussie beetles have these holes?

Hi
They are the upper rear seat belt anchorage points, they need and adaptor to fit in the hole to take a seat belt bolt.
Maybe use those with an approved cross bar and then later on you could use the same anchorage for rear seat belts when the kids get older, one hole
two purposes.
The other location ideas work but the hole will be redundant until your granddad like Jeff. Drilling a hole through the firewall can be risky
depending on where the tail light wire run across.

I just put a cup head bolt in the hole for the 10 years or so that I didn't have the anchorage point in the car.
The place that 'Crowdpleaser' fitted my anchorage point backs onto the area behind the air vents, so no chance of hitting wires there.
Wouldn't a bar across the back make access to the rear parcel shelf more difficult?

Yeah thats true im curious to see pics of people that have installed the bar in their beetles?
I take it the bar would sit on top of the parcel shelf so may look funny?
Or would it be possible to do a bar under the parcel tray?
