Correct gland nut torque?
I have a 67 1300cc bug 6volt flywheel non o'ring type.
Could someone tell me the correct torque for the gland nut.
I'am reading different numbers? Is 217ft pound correct?

My manual says that it is 217 FT LBS for all early cars up to and including the 1300, after the 1300 my other manual states that the torque is 253 FT
LBS, you can always fit a chome moly gland nut and torque that to 300 FT LBS, alway good insurance to stop the fly wheel comming loose, use some
lubrication on the thread so you get the correct clamping force.

Yep, I agree vwo60, I always go to 250 or fit a Berg nut to 450ft/lb.

Matt,
How do you get 450 ft/lbs undone?
