make up ya bloody mind

Ive been losing sleep for the last three weeks trying to make my mind up between two beetles. My mate has a 57 carel red oval that is all there not running but looks pretty solid (would need a resto) i can buy for around the grand mark. Then there is my other mate who has a 64 thats had all the rust cut out sprayed matte black with red rims (you know the rod sort of look) it runs and has rego then theres a split beetle i came across would need a fare amount of work. (im waiting on a price.) Ive been into Kombies for a while but i havnt had much to do with beetles. SO im looking for some advise which one would you take? I know i know you havent seen them but from what you read here which sounds the best?

Its the factor of spending the time on
1ready to drive
2 is the oval worth doing up or just buy one later thats rego
3 spend potentialy alot of cash on a shell ( even if it is a split)
;)
Also im a bay window fan myself dont really want a split kombi not everyone wants the early busses or beetles just after some different opinions

For a rusty shell ?
I was thinking more 5-10 grand for a rusted empty shell.
60+ must have been a nice rig
