Rader Rims

Will Rader rims bolt straight up to early lowlights and splits?

Just wondering if there are any issues clearing the centre castle nut on the rear?

spacers are needed or machine the snout down or change to later bay axle nut but still think machining is needed , go onto uk lowlight forum as think they have a thread on how to fit them

Not sure yet, was thinking that but, need to get extended caps for them as well. will get beetle sorted abd then work it out.

Extended caps look puss IMO..... No need on the front, only the rear is an issue.... And that's an easy fix.

Late Bay micro (short) axles and castle nut (smaller than early ones), with a machined snout on the drum and she's good to go.

FUCH your early!

Cheers, i'll give that a go!

What if i'm running long axels? Is it just the castle nut that is the issue?

You can't use the lowlight (microstub) axles... You have to change them out for some late Bay (microstub) axles...

I've got siwing axels and tubes going in off a beetle. I've also purcahsed a set of 15inch ones and just waiting for the rest to come together. going to be bolting them up to type 3 drums.

The original question was asking about lowlights and splittys..... Assumed you were talking about the IRS rear end.... Splitty's with straight axle conversions are totally different as you know..... Sorry to mislead you..... They should bolt straight up without any issues at all.... With Type 3 drums, the later long axles will work best, but with a little work they can fit the early short axle.... And remember the long axle and short axle setup will put the wheel in a different spot in the wheel well....
