Stand offs

I've only had my deck lid stand offs on my bug for about a couple of months and haven't come across any rain yet. I'm heading out to Warwick and bit concerned with driving and stoping if we come across rain. I know once parked up i can throw a rain coat and plastic over the rear but, not sure about when driving and stoped in traffic etc...Should i take them off for the weekend or is there no worries with driving in rain??

Stop worrying. On the hiway your engine requires more air, so what if it gets wet.......you'll find very little water gets onto the engine anyway.

I put covers on my air cleaner, spray my engine with kero with the compressor, and hose it off with the hose nozzle set on 'jet' to clean it off. It always starts again first kick.

Just make sure the seals on your ignition wires are in good condition and it should be all OK.

Hi

It's when you mix water with dust that you usually get an issue, so keep your cap and leads clean and you will be OK, I use metho.

WD40 needs to wiped off again otherwise it attracts dust and will make the materials in the leads breakdown.

Hi

Well.. I have mine on for all summer and one year I left them on all year..

Very little gets wet inside the engine compartment even in heavy rain and You are stopped.
When driving the rain doesn't go inside there..

I've never had any problems with what water gets in there..

I also keep My engine clean so water isn't a problem..

Maybe spraying a hose upwards at the distributor cap- water may get inside??

I always clean inside the cap with WD40 or CRC etc.. and wipe it clean..
If the rubber caps on the spark plug leads are very old or don't fit tight then You may have a problem...

cheers

LEE

PS I've just fitted mine for the summer..
