Wheels 15" 5 x 130


Need info on 15" x 6"/7" Porsche stud pattern 5 x 130 wheels that will clear 944T Brembo brake calipers and keep track increase to a minimium.
Want to use rally tyres for autocross so must be 15"

I am going down this route so have been doing some research and talking to people.

Talking to Sides who has done it, phone dials work, BUT you must have custom caliper brackets to bring the cliper in and also different disc's for them to work. Hopefully he sees this and gives a difinitive answer

The 944T brakes all came out with 16inch wheels........




I have no sympathy for my car, only the wallet that pays for it!

Can I ask, do you need such big brakes for the dirt? Maybe have a set of stock brakes and 4 stud wheels you can swap back to for the dirt events. That's what the ARC guys do. One set for dirt and one set for tarmac coz you just don't need such big brakes for dirt.

Yeah getting it all inside a 15" rim is pretty tricky, but it is do-able.

Front I have custom hubs that use Beetle bearings, 944NA rotors, 944T calipers and 15x7 ET52 Phone Dial rims. You could I think mod a 944NA hub and get it to work. My track from memory worked out to something like +10mm total.

Rear is stock 944NA gear - steel arms, ally ebrake assy, hub, rotor and stub axle just with the 944T caliper bolted up with I think a 4mm spacer between the mounting ears and the caliper. Rear rims are the same 15x7 ET52 Phone's. Rear track increase was larger, but still sensible... might have been +14mm overall.

15" 5x130 there's really not a whole lot of options... Fuch's generally won't work cos of the shape and thickness of the spoke section, Cookie's should work depending on what hub setup you go for I think but I never bothered with the calcs... I'm crazy enough to like the look of Phone's, but Cookie's are just damn fugly !!!

EDIT: You could also consider 912 steely's I guess, but not sure what offsets they came in... probably only ET36 at a guess.

How would you know about dirt sides...... your car has only seen it once? :p

yes, its overkill for some dirt, but dependant on the tire and surface type, you can generate allot of grip. The ipswich autocross actually rubbers in over time leaving a big black line to drive on.......

I am going the big brakes, as the car will be used for dirt and bitument an saves having two sets of brakes, maybe its the same here. Even with my semi's on the autocross track, it would sometimes be underbraked. but on loose dirt, std brakes are pretty good, though better rears would be a big help to balance things up.

Car will be used on bitumen as well as dirt, way too much hassle to swap brakes for different surfaces.
It is quite common to get the tyres squealing on dirt and leave black marks.
Yeah I know it is probably overkill, but I have all bits so why not.
I weighed a 944T 86 alloy trailing arm complete with 15 x 6 Fuchs and rally tyre, it was about 1/2 a kilo heavier than standard VW IRS arm with steel wheel and 165 rally tyre.
When I get into the shed next will check out using 944NA discs, did not think of mixing NA and T parts.

Yup, OK - fair enuff.

There's a bit of mixing and matching that can be done with 944 bits, especially around the 86 944T as it was a "one year only" for a lot of suspension and brake bits.

Working it all out can be a lot of fun... tricky, but definitely worth it in the long run.

Mine is rear vw arms 84 n/a hubs and hand brake with 944t 86 discs and calipers. Front is all 86 944T.
