chrome????

Hey guys,
i have a few beetle parts that are chrome and have started to pitt. Does anyone know how to remove it? I have tried metal cleaners and steel wool. I don't really want to spend the money on chroming as it is quite expensive. Anyway here are some pics, any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Peter

they are die cast alloy

Can not remove the pits as they will leave a BIG hole in the cover

You need new of have them plastic coated and re chromed

Yes, as Dave says they are die cast metal

and they are under the chrome so rubbing them off would create holes in the chrome..
If You closely at many older beetles You will find it in the 1/4 windows and the 1/4 window locking bits..
and the die cast VW badge on the bonnet..
and door handles..
and engine lid locks and handles..

Keep looking for some better ones..
it isn't that noticeable unless You look closely
and they can be used on rat beetles... lol

cheers

LEE

PS: You are right.. chroming IS VERY expensive..
