Zoc's '69 Squareback.
So 3 weeks back i bought my first VW.
I saw it on here and decided to give the guy a deposit over the phone after a short chat and based on that he posted.
So this is it.
some of you might have seen it.
Well i was excited and also thinking this could be the dumbest thing, buying a car without seeing it first.
We started to strip her back and it looks like fred flintstone's car, drivers floor and battery section very rusty, and the left sill even worse,
a bit disappointing since the seller said no rust in the floor.???.
I cut the floor out and put a new piece in today so im happy with that but still have the sill and then on to the things i knew that needed fixin.
oh well it gunna need a bit more work but it will be worth it, here are a few pix.

The best model Type 3!
While you are repairing the "very little rust" as the selling add said, do yourself a favour and pull the front guards as well. You could be in
for a bit of a shock there too. Another well known rusty spot at the reinforcing brace on the front quarters.

If you are in need of a sill I got new one from cip1 and it seems to be a decent piece. I haven't tried fitting it yet but if all you need is the
section directly under the door and not the section behind the door as well they are only about $80US plus freight. One of the few repair panels you
can get new.
Nice car, same model as mine. I remember this one being up for sale when I bought mine.
Which direction are you going to take with it?

The sill from cip is 60 + 190 shipping. Ouch.
My plan is to get it on the road and slowly fix it up, so she'll be hood for a while.....

I think that's about all I paid for shipping and I got a heap of other things as well so it didn't seem so bad. It seems a lot for just the one
part but its probably due to size. I also got a bamboo parcel tray and stereo etc, I forget the exact shipping cost but was around a couple of
hundred. Exchange rate was better then too.

Here is the dash
got the old carpet back in, and drivers seat back in also.
I bought the plastic seat guides off a guy on eBay. Myvwstuff.com and they are very good for 25$ shipped.

Not a bad looking dash pad. Look after it as they cost a bit to get re skinned.
By the way! What about modding your profile by adding the area you live. Makes it easier for getting help!

Good lad!
There's only a few places that re-skins the dash pads and some of them are doing crapp jobs. I've had about 4 done now, two of the early imported
ones. one ok but the last one was a bit ... well I could have kiiled the bastard! I'm in the process of building a new one by grafting the outer
ends of an early one onto a later one. I'd rather drive to Melbourne or Brisbane now rather than give the hackers around Sydney another go. Will
see when I get to that stage. Not important at the moment!

Dash Dr in Melbourne do a good job restoring type 3 dash's, make sure they put the same speaker pattern in when getting one done otherwise they do a
small perforated rectangle not a trapizoid.

Thanks for the info on The Dash Dr Adam. Do you know if they clamp them to a metal dash section to vac form it? As for the speaker section I'd
get them to leave it solid and make a drill jig for myself even though there's a million holes in it!

just an update ive got some bits n pieces in the post over the last week or 2.
my boss overhauled the stater motor, $50 for parts and some jelly beans for the labour, not bad.
the only prob is that it now is the best part of the car, LOL.
with the new battery it now starts better than new.
the plan is to go to wally's (panel beater)on monday, hope it'll only be a week or 2 since he is just doing it on the side.
