Thanks Chris....update:

Today I had to give the bumpers a bit of attention - the front was nice, only one coat of primer to sand off. After taking it back to bare metal where I could, it was treated with rust inhibitor:
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a145/Dasdubber/Apr6bumpers1.jpg

The rear needed a few repairs like a patch which was for the trailer light fitting:
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a145/Dasdubber/Apr6bumpers2.jpg

After butt welding it in, it was ground back and Bob's your uncle so they say.
http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a145/Dasdubber/Apr6bumpers3.jpg

Other holes were welded up as well which were no longer needed and the tow bar brackets which had broken off were repaired as well. The rear bumper had about 7 coats of paint on them so I had to go and annoy Cam (and his wife who I am sure is getting sick of seeing me around!) and grind it all off there...once stripped it was rust inhibited as well.

The valance had quite a few coats of paint as well:

And was stripped back to bare metal as well:

A few other updates from Cam over the last few weeks....gear knob was custom carved by a renowned tiki carver on the gold coast:
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c353/surfncam/IMG_2835.jpg

Gave Cam a hand a while back to put the freshly painted visor on:
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c353/surfncam/IMG_2845.jpg

The headliner was installed by a trimmer on the goldy as well:

The detailed box went back in as well:

Engine went in the other night:

Other bits of detailing/reassembly the Cam has been busy with:

Repro Fuchs in bay window pcd:

Hopefully front will be loosing a little altitude at a later date.

http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c353/surfncam/IMG_2925.jpg

Front seats were in a leather which Cam had left over from a job on a luxury yacht which he details/skippers etc.
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c353/surfncam/IMG_2951.jpg

Harley Davidson mirrors are a nice change from the norm:
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c353/surfncam/IMG_2956.jpg

Got the engine running last night but there is some linkage or gearbox problems as he can't get all the gears - so the bus will go to volksmod for a quick tune and box investigation.

Bumpers should see paint hopefully this week or next weekend.
Al

1st - You are a freak ... if this is what you do for a quick, none show quality job.

2nd - Like Rob, next time your dogs gets out give me a ring and I will fly back to OZ and help you look for it if you will rebuild my engine as a result ....

Keep up the good work, there is not enough people left with such attention to details and pride in their work ..

Lastly, in case you missed it you are a freak .. :tu::tu:

Hi Alan, been watching this resto with interest great job! Just wondering how you went about applying the 2k clear over the beige single stage acrylic urethane beige, was it done wet on wet or did you need to rub it back first.

Regards
WAYNE

Wet on wet with appropriate flash time. Trust me I double checked with the paint rep before I went down this path! (triple checked in fact) ;)

Thanks Brad and Brenndan....hopefully the front will come down at some time soon.

Cheers mate!

Today Cam got his bus tuned (all good - just needed a new dizzy cap and points)....gearbox issue was just linkage adjustment as expected. He had a fun drive home when the accel cable freyed and got caught in "full throttle" position on the M1 - he managed to get home unscathed without damage fortunately.

Whilst I was priming Rods front guards, I shot Cam's bumpers as well. A few small repairs to come then they will get their coats of cloud white and clear.

Bit of a revival of an old thread - Cam has been busy plugging away with the reassembly of his bus and just got it registered the other day.....now for sale:
http://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/viewtopic.php?tid=69656

Some pics of it finished (although he planned to have the front lowered it may stay as is since it is being sold).

I think I could live in this baby. It's a beauty, and when I win Lotto over the weekend, I'll be giving Cam a buzz.
