FAARRRKKK!!! No way. The day before you were gonna hot her up with new engine tin and kaddies!

Sorry to see you bug like that Seb. I wouldn't worry about the paint/respray just yet. Get her panel beaten back into shape, do the engine up and drive it. Unless you have secure parking or a lock up garage, there's always a chance someones gonna scratch or dent your car while it's parked on the street.

Shuffs,
Yeah, I've got a panel beater around the corner but can't get it down there till next Tuesday because they close at five and I have a meeting!

shokwave2,
It is freaking shit man! Kadrons arrived but the rest haven't, it's just a pain in the arse. I'm not going to try and punch the massive dent out so will have to wait till next Tuesday before getting it to a panel beater.

TorxKiwi,
You can say that again!

empi,
Aha regardless, they would of had to have been bigggggg!

Wow mate, sorry to see that. Don't lose faith, I'm sure that it can be fixed! I really feel bad to see your beloved car abused like that. One New Year's Eve my bug was parked in the street out the front of my friend's house in Brighton. In the morning I discovered that some idiots had thrown some kind of rock or big clump of dirt at the middle of my back window. Luckily the window didn't break, but whatever they threw broke up and covered the car in dirt and small gravel, leaving a lot of fine scratches in the middle of the window. Unfortunately, you were nowhere near as lucky as me. I have no idea why these people do it.

Yeah, was definitely hooligans mucking around at night...
I do apologise about the very, um, obscene language hinted at and used in this thread. As you can probably tell, I'm not very happy...

But, some good things.
Seems insurance company is actually considering dealing with the issue and helping resolve it. Which would be great!
But going to contact donn about the bonnet ASAP.

Just need to get home from work!

Try to resist the temptation to bash the dents out. If you get under the roof with your back, you may be able to gently ease it up a bit, but don't hit it with anything, as this may make it harder to repair. Pity you're so far away, or I would give you a hand. If you catch the bastards who did it, make sure use a blunt, rusty knife on them.:grind:

Makes me angry and it aint even my car. If sum dog did that to my car id rebuild it just to run them over i think. A VW aint just a car like your daily ford or holden its part of the family too so same rules apply for the vw as if sum1 did that to a family member.

Liek others have said, stay positive as this is not terminal. All of it can be repaired with time and patience and some money. Karma will deal with the idiots and you will have Zelda back and be enjoying her before you know it.

Hopefully the broken wiper is lodged up the A$$HOLES sphincter..A reputable panel beater can pop most of it out, dolly and beat the roof into shape and shrink the stretched steel..It only looks bad at the moment. Hopefully someone/ enthusiast can help you out and restore your faith in people..surely something good can come your way Seb...

Thanks guys!
I really appreciate everyones response and what not, I really appreciate the support!

I'm going to stick with her, I'm really glad that the insurance company are actually considering helping out, that is a weight off my shoulders that is for sure!

My main concern is money at the moment, I've spent x amount of dollars on the engine and what not and now for this to happen, if I have to pay for this out of my own pocket, it is going to cost quite a bit. Like, sure, the panel beater can pop the dent out, but how much is that going to cost? Then the roof needs to get a coat of paint or two to make sure the bare metal is covered. It's just crazy how much this is going to cost me in the long run, if I have to do it out of my own pocket.

Hell, if the insurance company pays for this, I'm going to be ecstatic. My other concern is the fact that I don't actually have a car to drive while Zelda is being fixed...
Might have to steal the misses' for a bit...

Jason, that's the best comment so far!!
But regardless, I have the snapped off windscreen wiper and if I find out who did it, I will be sure to shove it up his sphincter hole with kind regards of Jason.

It looks terrible at the moment. I just really hope they can fix it and it isn't obvious at all. I don't want her to always have this mark of some dickhead that has decided to jump all over her...

Maybe one day, but for now, just have to get into it and fix it.

Yeah, it is pretty full on.
We'll see what happens. Hopefully I can get the bonnet easily enough, but the roof will have to be a panel beater job...

If I knew who they were, I'd do something about it, but I don't and probably never will know who did this.
It is just a shit thing to do to anyone. It doesn't make any sense nor do I understand why anyone would want to do something like this to any car for that matter, let alone a beetle!

Hey Seb, pm sent, many moons ago, probably b4 u were born, I helped my brother in law repair a bug, we cut off the whole roof and replaced it with another, cut it through the front middle and back pillars, I did the measuring and cutting (hacksaw ) and he did the welding, glass went back in like it was off the factory floor so chin up, it's not a throw away.
If you only had third party insurance and the insurance company is going to fix it then we all need to know who they are, insurance companies get a lot of bad press, this would be bloody beyond the contract for sure.

Hey donn, have replied to the PM!

Aha yeah, most likely before I was born ;)
A couple of mates have tempted me into getting someone to graph in a sunroof, would be kinda cool!
Only seen it on another L bug, would be something different, but waywayway expensive...

Oh I will. If this goes through, I will definitely give them a massive wrap on here!

I can see a high point in nearly every bad situation, and I know your hurting but,if the bones of Zelda are good she's still Zelda with a "couple" of dents.Don't let the bastards get to you get those dents bashed out hot her up with in an inch of her life.look at my car "fruit loop" heaps of "character"(dents) all by other people it's a shit box in a lot of peoples eyes but look below the surface she's a ripper and zelda can be as well. If your not comfortable poppin the dents youself offer to be a dogs body at a pannel shop in exchange for a bit of banging ?but by Monday she could be a hottie with dents.Plus if you do it your self you can f#ck it for free which means more cash for speed equipment.come on dude off the puter and out the shed with the missus this is a test!

Alright people, it seems everyone has come together to support, but I might need help with one thing!

Is there anyone doing a Melbourne to Adelaide trip that would have any room for a L bug bonnet?
If I can get the bonnet to Melbourne, could someone please help me out?

If anyone knows anyone, please, PM me!

But yeah, kinda keen for sunroof now.
Will get the dent pulled and then the panel beater shop can have a look at the sunroof path...

Hang in there, you'll get it sorted.

Might be a good idea to get an alarm once all fixed up.
I know with the shock sensor mine has it would have gone off when they first stepped on the bumper.

A car thief might not be detirred by a car alarm but kids which are who I would suspect of something like this would be pretty brave to keep jumping up on a car once the alarm goes off.

Just the shock of the alarm going off would probably be enoughto frighten them off, modern alarms are very loud, mine makes people passing by jump when I just arm and disarm it, going off it hurts your ears.
