I was just wondering why the second cut closer to the mounting uprights?

That's not a second cut, it where the mountings used to be and there was some deep grinding marks there.

Every nick was rewelded.

😂 Thanks, I was going to paint everything dull black but liked the photo on the cover of "How to modify Volkswagen Beetle suspension"book.

Only people who will see it would be wheel alignment crowd and anyone I run over. Could help in that cae of identifying the car😂
