VW Warwick 2015

Hi All, I hope all is well in the VW drag racing world. VW Warwick will be held October 3rd-4th 2015 at the Warwick Dragway. This is the 10th VW Warwick, a milestone for VW drag racing in this country. When I first started Warwick back in 2006 I didn't know what the response would be. From a small field of 40 cars, it wasn't long before word spread that there was an event that catered just for VW racers and their families. The sport and the series took off. With this said, I aim to use the 10th anniversary running of VW Warwick as both a litmus test and an opportunity to assess where the event, and indeed any additional rounds for a series in 2016 and beyond should head. I would like to encourage every VW drag racer in this country to race at Warwick this year as a show of force. From records over the past 10 years, it's possible to have approximately 150 VW racers compete at Warwick if everyone manages to rock up. This would be sensational and quite a spectacle if we managed to pull it off. Entries will open on August 1st on the VWMA website - www.vwma.net.au - but the programme and early details are already up on the site. The Motorkhana is still hanging in the winds while I try to secure a CAMS official, but again why not throw a set of old tyres on your strip car and try your hand at running over witches hats? I'd also like to see the dinner on Saturday night full to overflowing and the Tappet Racing brimming with entrants. No other VW motorsport event in the country offers so much VW activity at the one venue. I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at this weekend. Despite the enormous effort to organise the weekend each year, I would like to see Warwick and the series continue for years to come. See you on the track. A full update tomorrow evening, but so far the event has 108 VWs competing, the most any Warwick, Portland or Sydney event has mustered. Well done.

Hi All,
A record 109 drivers will compete at the VW Warwick drags this weekend October 3rd-4th. This is the most drivers at any VWMA round to date.

Your tickets, programmes, and other items for the weekend will be waiting for you when you arrive. If you are arriving Friday, please come and see me in the VWMA tent. If you are arriving Saturday, they will either be at the gate or the scutineering shed opposite the VWMA tent.

In light of the recent Volkswagen emissions scandal, it has been decided to test all drag vehicles at the track. If you emit more pollution than any of the following cars pictured below - Filmore, Alder Fvee, Junka or Chris McGaughey's Diesel Golf - you will be allowed to race. If not, you will be asked to press the pedal further and try harder😂

One day I'll make the trip. But for now prep'ing for the Street Machine Drag Challenge starting on the 23rd Oct.
As much as I'd love to tick every event box on the calender, sometimes you have to pick & choose.

What I'd like to see is a mk1 step up this year & run faster than my daily driver did back in Portland 2011.

8.153@86.04mph, 1.85 60ft in full street trim & weight is the mark.

Will give me something to chase, also some motivation & get my next setup going next year.

I haven't raced my mk1 since April 2011 & at the moment will be looking at having another crack at it with the same previous setup for the drag challenge.

Yup. A VW in Street Machine's Drag Challenge. 5 days, 4 tracks, no trailers & no support. Basically a copy of USA's Hotrod Drag week.

My old man is a television repairman, he's got this ultimate set of tools. I can fix it.
