What Lube to Use on Pedal Assembly

Wondering what lube to use when re assembling the pedal assembly of my '68 Type 1?

If it's bronze bushes use engine oil.

I read it on samba, so it must be correct.

Sometimes Volkswagen dealers sell spare parts. Amazing isn't it!😂

Looks more like plain steel rather than bronze bushes
