no offence, but have you tried everyway of cleaning the old one? is the new one a replica, and if so, can you dismantle it and put the new glass in the old mechanism? if u can dismantle the old one i am sure you could get new glass cut somewhere.

I got a new glass cut for my side mirror on the 65 resto Sea Blue

Cost me $10.00 at the local glass shop and it like brand new. the mirror was one of the easier ones to get apart as it had an O Ring n spring to keep the tension on the glass.

The other type that are crimped are a big of trouble getting them apart.
I read it on FACEBOOK so it must be true
