Am i having trouble or what tring to rego the Towdster in QLD as they are saying i will need to register it as an individually constructed vehicle of which standards we dont think we can meet.Crazy considering that it has been registered for the last 34 years in NSW under the HOMEMADE banner that the RTA uses to rego buggies with an inspection every year, but now in QLD they want it to meet 2004 standards including seat belt warning light emision/sound control and 110 other adr's they will creat to make it hard. Anyway i spose i am just looking for some suport to keep a great car on the road(seeing as it is the ONLY one in OZ on the road).Any ideas greatly appriciated or words of support PS the RTA and QLD Transport need blowing up:cry:cry:cry:cry

So i am guessing it says home made on the rego papers somewhere?? But yeh an interesting situation. Surely there has to be an easier way around it then the indivdually constructed way as that will just suck but I can not think of one as yet🙁 have you spoken to anyone a bit higher up the ladder then the tossers at the DMV counters.
Not yet but come 8.30am tomorow i will be back at beenlieh armed with alot of info i have ganed in the last 72 hrs plus a phone call to mod dep't tomorow aswell

i tryed to get a manta registed here but they said if i could not prove that it was previously registed ,that it would have to be registed as 2004 vechical.i went to a engineer
and he said the same thing .the toad is diffrent to a manx ,manta
so maybe talk to an engineer. did you show them the n.s.w registration papers .
:vader good luck with it, I am of no use regarding homemade vehicles, just homebrand ones. Steal a toyota emblem and stick it on, they are obviously so caught up in thier own self, paper pushin impotance down there, they prob won't notice the difference, just tell em it's a bottom of range plastic fantastic with out the optional extras... "yeah the seats are sposed to sit like that, I just chose not to get the stone protect spray on tinfoil layer". Dazzle them with tekkie terms etc.. if all else fails go to tandy and buy a load of flashing lights and switches..... they will grow bored with listening ur long winded descriptions of each and every switch,, and end up rubber stamping it anyway!
The amount of shit they allow on the roads as is.... GO GET EM😀
All right A n d y i will s l o w my talking down and wadd yes it does have current rego but there is no class to put it in in QLD like a manx or manta as it is a fabricated car NOT a rebodied vw and here lies the prblem

how would they know. surely it is just as much a rebodied vw - make unknown as a cut & shut manta etc.
they should have a generic vw beachbuggy category. if you got a rellie in the bush, use them & go out country, away from the head up arse penpushers and tell them its a vw beachbuggy 10 times stronger & safer than a hyundie.
ps (edit) if you cant get it lic, how much do you want for it??😉

Helterskelter400 i am sorry i cant post a photo but this car has no vw floor pan so it does tend to stand out in a crowd and also eliminates the rebodied factor as if you could see it you would understand.

Hmmmm the tube frame might give it away.......
i understand guys. my feeling is that if you took one of our country inspectors out & got some of that air & it held together (as it should) and it stopped, indicated had a windscreen & wipers & a rv mirror, he'd give it a go.
can hope anyway
Sorry Helter no garanties on the screen after another jump like that considering that photo was taken when the car was on the way back down from prob 5ft higher than that.

why not keep it registed in n.s.w. and live in qld every year go back to renew the rego might be the only way .all you need is a address in n.s.w to send the renew papers to....😉
might work :beer:beer
i think the idea of keeping it regoed in NSW is a good idea....even if u got the rego changed over into a relitives name and got all the papers sent to them and then they fowared them to u in QLD......just name yourself as the primary driver and your rellie as the secondary and youre sweet
