why not bring it down to nsw, get it rego'd, take me for a blast at port stephens, and use my sydney address for paperwork
u need proof of residence though dont you?.......thats why i suggested putting it in a rellies name

Country inspectors are far more relaxed than the city ones.
Try taking it out into the country somewhere and get it done.

No offence, but I don't want one- however growing up as a child at Echo Valley in Tmba a Towd held the hillclimb (dirt track) record for a few years, this was some 20 years ago... The bloke who owned it is still active in the racing scene and was looking for it- said the last he heard it was on some farm out behind Goondiwindi, though had been rolled years back and was in a shed somewhere out there..and yes it was a Towd, cant recall it being registered though.
he did say.....the only registered one so i think he would know there are others out there but not on the road apparently.....would be cool to find one....i reckon they look great

Was it a black one at all
I was only talking to a guy the other day and he gave me a similar storie about a black one out that way.
It was only pub talk. We where talking about sandrails and he told me about the tow'd.
I wondered if it was true or not because he said he hated vw's but yet he new what a tow'd was.

As a few people have suggested, transfer the rego to a relly in NSW and keep it in Qld. You'll have to pay Stamp Duty but you'll keep the car.

"Tell him 'We've already got one'"
I tell ya just sell it to me and I will go and register it in my name and let you drive it sometimes when it is cold. It will look good with a set of QLD Manx Club plates on .

It came on a Krispy Kreme cruise last year. The owner's name is Paul. He is a friend of OvalGlen maybe he can get us a snap...
Yes that is serious shit, but hey the car was built for it, NOT to be some show pony and yes every body it looks like the QLD T/Port dep,t is going to FULLY register it as a B.F.Meyers & Co Towdster which will be what i really wanted all along as aposed to being regoed as a modifided VW of which it is NOT,so fingers crossed after an inspection is done by the T/Port Dep't soon.🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂

Ok so I am curious to know if it goes through as that does that in turn meen that if I just happened to find a Tow`d and it had never been regoed in AUS I would be able to get it through the same way??????????????????

The one that I knew was a yellow- guess it was popular a popular colour. I have a few leads as to what happened to it, so will chase it down and let ya's know. I will also get onto the original owner and see if he has any old photos.

I took those last two pics of the tow'd. They aren't actually pics they are screen grabs from my video camera. Although I was the first one up that dune, I wasn't about to try and out-jump Kevin or Mike. I didn't feel like walking the 1000kms home.
🙂
hmmm, gotta get to Stockton again...

First time I saw the Mad Max movies (as a whippersnapper), and was told about the maurauders hooning round in vw's????,,,,, that aint like nanna's beetle,, hehehe, I developed a strange fascination for the offroadie side.

:o sowwy, tow'd moves to sunshine state......... did not mean to sound like it's illegal or bad in any way, just poor choice of wording!

I'm a Queenslander - I remember growing up there and we would ogle at what the roaches could get away with on their roads! Blowers, 17 inch lifts on 4x4's, 4 spot lights across the roof top frying roos at 1.268 kilometers in an instant.
Now I live here I have to greep slip my ride every year and once its defective I have to take it off the road. Up in queensland at least you can rego a car and only take it off the road when it snaps, bends or has killed someone!
Licencing would be far easier if it was federal. Then again thats a whole new bag of worms.
I was relieved to hear that DOT was going to come to the party. I can put ways my blueprints and fuses :duh
I can understand why they are strict - i wouldn't want my signature on a potentially dangerious car - especially if it's health was not going to be checked yearly like in NSW's. Fortunately it seems DOT are adding a level of reasoning to their rules and regulations. Unlike the forum they don't have 'guidelines'.
