Back in the Sixties [they were the good old days] No RADAR... occasional traffic light... and there was a House Painter in Newcastle... that carried His Long heavy Wooden Ladders UNDER His Beetle..... tied to his Bumpers.... Now that IS a TRUE Story.... Actually it appeared in the Newcastle Herald in the Topics column....
