I was considering putting the 17inch ROH Zs off the commodore on the oval after looking at the wheels we bought for it just dont seem to cut it !
Can anyone tell me in detail how the clearance is 17 *7.5 with VN disks ,
and who makes an adapter plate for the caliper.
Im dropping it down very low and it has the 60s swing axle floorpan under it so is it possible to buy camber adjusters that will do the trick .
The floorpan is finished ,its full custom in 2k and the body is being blasted on teuseday ,I have all new interior waiting and have my fingers crossed realy hard that we're going to make it to valla.
Also is there someone who makes the rubbers to seal the body to the floorpan - repro's are OK unless they are too poor a quality.
How many guys are headed up from Wollongong ? I will join the convoy.
the adapter plate would not be legal you have a crash your insurance company would walk away from you .
I dont think the off set is correct .
you have vn disks fitted ??
you would be better to fit a irs to the rear
as dave would say rubber= vintage they have them , may be in not so many words .hee hee
Looking for that special lady : PM me for coffee & cake
get new rear and front blank discs and druns and get them drilled to the stud patterns easy!
stuipid beetle breaks everytime i drive it.....
He's talking about adaptor plates for the calipers not to change the stud pattern
Thanks for the replies guys.
Seagull your reply is rather breif and uninformative , could you expand a little more please mate.
Changing the rear end isnt an option at this point because the pan is finished bar the braking system and its a full custom "lots of time"
Ive already had some blanks drilled to suit the 17 * 7s I have here but the style of mag just dont suit the car.
There is a full set of vn disks sitting here and I have a nice set of rims to suit VN so all Im asking is if anyone has done or knows someone who is running 17s under the stock guards without shortening the front end etc
preferably 17*7.5s or can tell me how they will go under.
Does anyone know about caliper adapter plates to suit common swaps or are these simple enough to cardboard template and profile cut.
Thanks again, Harko

I am running replica Porsche Cup 3 alloys that are 17 x 7.5 ET52. Front end is balljoint (68pan) stock width with CB Performance dropped spindles and discs in porsche pcd. The rims (with 205/40 17 tyres) sit right under the lip of the guard - any higher offset would put them out further. Depending on whether you have stock spindles (which are slightly thinner than the CB dropped ones), you might be okay - depending on offset which you haven't given in the info. I would say make sure you run nothing wider than a 205 on the front with stock width beam. If I had my time again I'd narrow the front 2 to 3 inches then run some spacers (which I have checked with the automotive engineer here in QLD re. legality) to regain some turning circle which is piss-poor with the current set up.
Rear is swing axle with short axles, using CB discs in 5x130 pcd again. Due to offset of rims, I had to have 35mm spacers (basically like adaptors that are fixed to the discs) made up which puts the wheels just under the guards (stock).
When trying to work out whether my rims would fit, it is hard to get a definitive answer on any forums (germanlook.com or shoptalkforums.com in eurolook section) - because everyone's setup is different. Basic advice is a ET40'ish rim would work on rear...up front is catch 22 because you need a high offset to get them under the guards, but too high and you hit the lower trailing arm. Only way to find out is trial fit 'em!
Sorry can't help with caliper bracket but you would definitely need certification for this part to be legal.

Thanks for your advice Dasdubber, I was sure I had read it on here somewhere that someone had done it in the past , Thats where I got the idea from.
Offset on the rims that I hadnt mentioned would be standard commodore but Im unsure of the numbers as yet.
If anyone could help out in the dimensions from disk face to guard lip of a standard 60s beetle It would save me hours , The pan is stored and the body is in a difficult position but with these measurements I can gain a pretty accurate guess whether to get the pan down onto the commodore rims/offset or stick with the suzuki swift that the blanks were machined to.
