Keep this up Ducky , i'm nearly at my 1000th post!!

I was 17 , it was a white hand painted 1500 68 bug , cost 100 pounds , paid for by my Saturday job!

Took the bumpers off , lowered it and drove it solidly for 3 years , everywhere! A Transit van killed it whilst parked up! End of my first love!

I was 19 (I'm now 20). It was a 1974 Beetle. I only got it in January so it may not surprise to hear that I've still got it. My parents bought it for $800.

I was 18 years old... was working... bought a 1959 beetle with a lot of front end welding... Never gave any trouble..
I wish I had photos of it.. was grey and I painted across the rear Matt black.. maybe the front too... the putty used to keep falling out of the back valance so I kept putting and flat blacking... glad to have it... NO....
2nd Beetle couple years later was a red 61 model looked great - replaced 36hp engine for a 40 horse.. and rolled it coming off Hexham bridge near Newcastle on the Night I got engaged to My wife.. Pushed her back on her wheels... No not the fiancee 🙂🙂 My Beetle - then drove back home to Gloucester, had the body replaced with a grey 1959 model - but the bonnet & front guards were still red... Got married with this car.. then gave it to My Dad... {not because I was married in it ???🙂🙂)

10 years ago, a 67 splitty was my 1st VW, I loved it, didnt buy it, swapped if for a $2000 subaru with a blown head gasket (didnt know at the time Todd if you're watching), many great times in that splitty...sold it and the guy eventuallyu sent it OS :cry

Great that my 1st VW was a split, then ventured into bays, but now back into "the older the better" philosophy

21 and paid a lot for those days (1982). It was a 64 and paid $1200.

It was PERFECT. Never really appreciated just how perfect till later. Kept it a couple years, till i got a company service vehicle (Subaru Sherpa - BWAHAHAHAH!!! ) Sold it to a friend.
A week later some drove through a stop sign a tore the front end off.

Here boyfriends dad bought if for the motor to drive a bush saw on a farm. Went up a year or 2 later to strip parts off it. All came off easily - scrapers trim everythig was perfect. Went to put it on the 67 i had then and found all the bog, rust and fibreglass on the heap of crap i bought.

Should i have kept it??? YOU BET!!

I was sweet 16. My dad paid $1500 for a blue 1968 Semi auto beetle ...... It's name was Gertie (who knows why) It broke down quite a bit but got me where I needed to go. A few years later I gave her to my boyfriend at the time (he is now my husband) and I bought myself a 1986 Laser (which I killed a few years later after a big accident). Gertie never foragev me for this and spat something out th side of it's motor, when it was all better it then snapped an axel while flying down the freeway (not good !!!). It then went to Beetle heaven after that. Do I wish I still had it ?????? YES ! I have a framed photo of it on my mantlepiece at home

at the ripe old age of 23, a hot red 68 bug, for $4K (a LOT much now that i come to think of it) and ive still got it, sitting outside my house not game to drive it anywhere till i can get it fixed.
in the beginning, the universe was created.
this made alot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move.

i was 16 and it was a 54 beetle that was given to me as it was in very poor condition, when we got it it had a plastic bag for an oil capand no handbrake

poor thing didnt last passed my learners as when going up a hill i did something to the gear box and it was jammed.

sold it to a family friend who had the means to fix it up for his daughter and the silly cow didnt want it so he sold it and i have no idea where it is now.

i miss it very much and it has taken me 6 years to get another one, the 1970 that i have now and im working on.

19 years old, I bought a 65 Beetle, and because I am an idiot I sold it ten years later for $500. It would be worth ten times that at least now.
