depends on the shape of your head as to which brand and style is best for you. HJC was the cheapest that had both Snell and australian standards approval, but was very noisy. it was about $250, and my arai was $700 but was a much quieter helmet. The shoei ones werent as comfortable for me but my mates swear by them.

try a few and decide. the more exxy ones will generally be quieter in regards to wind noise. if its just for car use then a HJC would be more than adequate.

My last two helmets have been HJC. I tried shoei and arai and they just didn't fit my head shape properly.

My old HJC was a CL-12.

I am currently have a blue AC-11 Zeek helmet. It better than the CL-12 cos it has removable lining. I also found a helpful saleman and we swapped cheek pads from a small helmet into a larger helmet to make a custom fit to my head. It's very comfortable. I actually found my CL12 a tough quieter (the cheaper one). It's not annoying or anything. If you really want quite you just wear ear-plugs. I know lots of guys that do.

HJC have a flip up version like your talking about.

I've got Shoei and Arai and I prefer the Arai. Mind you it cost twice as much, but it still fits well after 3 years.

i was wearing an arai when I came off my ducati and smashed my head into the road. it saved my life, so the value of a good bike helmet is no mystery.

I love my ARAI!!!!!!

Had a shoei before the aiai, but I prefer the arai now...much more comfortable, good venting in summer, not to mention really awsome dragons on shell.....is it wrong to love your helmet soooo much?? 😀

shoei and aria just don't fit my head shape. No use buying a helmet no matter how expensive it is if it doesn't fit properly.

I used to have a Nolan helmet. A road helmet with a vision so it was a dual purpose dirt/road helmet. It was good but they don't make much like it anymore. I hit a kangaroo at 80kph and landed on my head, the helmet did it's job.
