Get someone to look at the Vacuum servo unit when you touch the stick and see if it is moving the clutch rod.
We had a ruptured diaphram that was not able to hold the vacuum, it worked initialy once the stick was touched but faded as the vacuum was lost! Very difficult to select gear's.
You can get a diaphram replacement kit, that will fix the problem, if this is the cause.

Same...if your having trouble getting it into gear...go get it checked out if you can't do it yourself...

wot dave said if he's up your way

It's a real bitch if you have trouble all the time with gears...and something must be wrong ...

The clutch rod might need adjusting on the servo thingo.
Undo the lock nut & wind the rod IN.
That's all it might be.Or the clutch may just be worn out.......
