Gotta register my buggy tomorrow. Does anyone know if there will be issues getting a CTP greenslip for it?
I am trying NRMA first.

nope. they cannot refuse insurance on your car if it is roadworthy. they can however make it very expensive. AAMI still seems to be the cheapest though.

CTP insurance is virtually the same from them all I thought?
Third party property and comprehensive depends on the car and will require some hunting around. Shannons is a sure bet.

RACQ wouldnt insure my baja but i rang up shannons and they had no problems. as for CTP it should all be sweet as its part of registration.

in NSW CTP is separate to the rego even though it's compulsory. prices for CTP greenslip insurance vary widely, believe me. But because it's compulsory, it cannot be refused AFAIK.

Didn't get the replies on this post soon enough so I ended up going to AAMI. With my 3rd party property insurance from Shannons I got a discount and it was a shade under 500 bucks. Apparently they under write for Shannons so that's why they can discount (worth remembering guys). I was pretty happy with this considering NRMA was about 100 bucks more. NRMA really is no good for anything anymore, I'm afraid even the road service guys are a bit hopeless now. The guy at AAMI could see the car from his counter but didn't even ask about mods. :P
For all you guys without 3rd party property, check this out. Mine is only 280 odd dollars from Shannons and that's for a highly modified buggy.
So, I reckon you've got no excuse for not having any on mostly stock beetles and buses. If you don't have 3rd party property get some asap. :cussing

it's not insured UNTIL it's registered. they are happy to take your $$$, but cover only starts when it's regoed and you give them the new plate number.
mine was only $250-odd but I have a few things thru them and am an old bastard now (30+)

I was wrong. The 3rd party property insurance was $250 not $280. :thumb

the guy from Shannons said the car was actually covered on the way to and from the blue slip inspection provided I followed the right rules. Ie, a letter of intention with date, time, destination, etc. I wasn't expecting that and was really quite impressed.
I am old geazer as well at 31...now where did I put my...what was I looking for...what's my name again...:duh
yeah being under 25 sucks, but dont worry they will change it before i get in to the cheap rates then it will be under 30😊blush
