We're having some problems with IE.
When a "search" is typed into the address bar, an annoying site keeps appearing.
When a URL link is clicked and that site is down for some reason, the same annoying site appears.
Norton keeps giving me warning messages that an "windows/system32/*.exe" file is attempting to access the internet. I block the access. I then remove the file, they are always 39kb. The site is 207.17.53.244 with varying ports.
Can anyone help me rid this thing, or point me to some solutions?

If you can't laugh at yourself you can't laugh at anyone else! Because life is to short not to LAUGH
get 'spybot' and itll clean up your pc.
or adaware
Adaware will remove most of this stuff.
Sometimes it doesn't get rid of all programs which cause this sort of rubbish. Typping the http:// before an address will help in the short term. I have two machines that are doing this at the moment that i don't want to rebuild for the people affected but think I will have to do it soon as the rouge program is all but impossible to find in the registry.
I've got Ad-aware, SpywareBlaster and Spybot S&D.
None of them have picked this little scoundrel up.
I'll try the other suggestions, thanks

Another one to try is "HiJackThis" betetr known as HiJack this you bastard!
After running adaware run HijackThis and clean up as recommended.
Remember to do this in safemode with System restore Switched OFF.
You will probably have to do some CAREFUL registry surgery too depending on which hijack you have.
Search the web for the name of which ever page it is giving you.
