Not sure if that was aimed at me??? I hope not . . . on a 'platter'?

I'm a Council House kid from Everton Valley . . . just worked hard is all . . .

Anyhows . . . no matter . . .

Build-up shots as requested 😉

Regards,

Brian

PS: It WAS roadworthy at Sandown . . . AND to suggest it 'won' because I'm part of some 'in-crowd' is not only insulting to the judges but to the workmanship on the car. Fact is . . . it was the most 'out there' car at the show. End of argument. 😉
TextGday Brian,You taken my quote the wrong way and please take no offence its not aimed at you.JVLRacing

Is that writing on the before picture vandalism or meant to be there? I think it looks pretty cool. Not quite as cool as the end result, but cool nonetheless.

I picked it up during the week leading up to last year's Summer Beach Party (June 2003) . . .

As I knew I was gonna be shot-blasting/DA'ing the whole shell . . .

I 'displayed it at the show and invited folk to 'sign' (graffiti) it . . .

😀

Moved to Leasowe Estate (on the Wirral) when I was 'ickle' . . .

My point was: Hardly 'silver spoon' territory is it? 😉

AWESOME CAR Brian, It would have to be one of the best cars of any type I've ever seen, let alone VWs.
It really is an inspiration.
If we all listened to the knockers none of us would get anywhere......:P

Well done Brian, lovely car and attention to detail is exemplary! It is a shame that whenever a such a worthy car is built, bitterness arises in terms of how much $$ has been outlayed.

Anyway, once again congratulations and thanks for taking the time to load up the pics.

It goes like f*ck!😀

I live in Oxfrodshire these days . . . lots of twisty lanes . . . loads of gear 'shifts' . . .

It comes on cam (no pun intended😉) at around 3,200-3,400 and just hauls ass . . . the sound is amazing . . . it roars like an F1 :thumb

Enjoying it very much at the moment . . .

My Girlfriend and I actually spent a day up and around Oxfordshire when we were over in the UK, I can imagine the six speed must really come in handy around those parts.
Roaring like an F1 doesn't suprise me really, not with those throttle bodies:vader 😀 What are you using for air cleaners?

Absolutely wicked ride mate, can't say compliment you enough on this one, this is what it's all about!

Funnily enough . . . NO!

I always try to start with the most solid 'example' I can find . . . like the Samba above . . . NO WELDING WHATSOEVER required . . . apart from the IRS conversion.

The Square's floorpan now resides under another guy's car 😉

I chose to go 'space frame/ladder frame' because it gave me more flexibilty over suspension etc. and allowed me to narrow the front as much as I wanted. It also meant it could be tailored to suit the extra engine/trans weight and power.

Plus . . . it just looks cool! :thumb

Hey Brian, I just noticed that the rear doesn't use double A Arms like the front, was this due to space saving or something else?

That's correct . . . we just 'transplanted' the whole 993 back end . . . it works fine for Porsche . . . didn't seem right to mess with it 😉

As you can probably see in the pics . . . I had the whole underside on the Split stripped and shot-blast . . . and then painted as good as the 'top' 😉

You have to weld in 'mounting points' for the IRS . . . but done properly, they look like 'factory' . . .

I've just finished fitting full-length 'belly pans' . . . in stainless . . . finishes it off a treat.

I bought the Samba purely because the 'long side' was so straight . . . a must if you're gonna paint it a dark colour 😉

It's being used as a Wedding Car this weekend, complete with ribbons and bows . . . for a 'lesbian' wedding, no less . . .

Two very lovely ladies I know are 'tying the knot' and having their 'reception' at Santa Pod . . . how cool is that?!!
