Is it true???

A story of a well known VW dealer and workshop owner from Sydney is now on his way back to the land of the coat hanger and crappy coffee with a 23 window deluxe from Yea in country Victoria. Can anyone confirm this alleged event???

Could this be true?

If it is!, keep looking people..... they obviously are still around!

Why just last month a member of the VWCV bought a 1949 (no that's not a typo) split window beetle from a eastern suburb of melbourne in excellent condition :thumb

Dreams can come true 🙂

It is true about the 23 window, and not just one

My mate is interested in wind farms and drives all over the place

He took some pictures of a farm he came across

the front one is a split ute
i think the other 2 are early 60's beetles

I can't see the ute?...looks like an overturned water tank between the beetle and the house..

.....OK is there a ute behind the poplars?

....getting worried this is a trick and while I'm looking the werewolf is gunna jump out (sorry to those who didn't look at the thread 'spot the difference'!!)

Tracey they sell split window panels...guess you could even cheat with an early large window beetle as well if you wanted!!...Do these people redo the dash as well....cos they're a whole different look...gauges....spaces...sizes, knobs etc...Or would they call them a modified split????....

Sorry but getting back to the split window in an oval.
I think its a sad person who trys to be cool by making their car into something it isnt.
If its an oval keep it an oval, I dont care that they are damaging an oval but everyone who knows anything about vws would know it was a fake.

My 2 cents worth.

Cheers

Hey Jim it's a bugger when someone else finds one in your backyard isn't it!! Remind me to tell you where that '57 Kombi and '57 Singlecab are between you and Bendigo.
Cheers, Ian.

i can also confirm, one 23 window, i believbe the other was of "lesser" stature, and a third was also found on the way to the site of the first 2, after taking a "wrong" turn :| the third is still yet to be taken back up to sydney...

I saw it on the weekend. It is very complete and a bit rusty but not beyond help. It will be on the road again soon.

Nah not telling.....but you can..... 😉

Also another confirmed rumour is the Mobil "Kombi full of cash" promo split bus has been bought by a Melbourne VW Split bus nut and will be on the road as soon as tomorrow. The guy who won the bus, drove it once and didn't want to drive it again, so a couple of months later it was on the nature strip with a big FOR SALE on it. Said VW Nut drove past and nearly drove off the road with excitment as he did the deal there and then. COOL..... and a top bloke who purchased it.🙂

Well , that ol' Mobil Kombi is an absolute Gem! Finally got the bugger started (new 6V battery will do the trick every time!). Drove her for the first time today to get a road worthy. Passed with flying colours. Would be interested to know the history of the camper interior? Anyone remember it from the DOVW, or was it too full of giveaways to give the game away?!? The thing drives like a bus should, granted, its been a long time since that split driving smile has been on this happy face. Cant wait to finish the 63 micro now. Should be going into the booth in a matter of weeks.
Perhaps the ones that know about the other 'finds' should let privacy prevail. I can confirm hole heartedly that the rumours are in fact true though.

Why is it a big secret???
Good on them for finding a bus, but who cares who it is or isnt as long as its going to be restored.

I didnt realise the members of the vw family were also secret agents.

Cheers
Dave
