Special- Only one made - beetle 1948

In 1948 , Colonel Charles Radclyffe had this one off, twin carburetored 2 seater cabriolet Beetle built for Himself...

Its interesting History to note that in 1946 the British were offered the factory, but they didn't want the car or Factory, Australia said the same in Feb 1947, and in Feb 1948 Henry Ford did the same..
The only Country that was interested was Russia,, but East-West relations had already started to cool off... Russia wanted Wolfsburg to be made part of Soviet East Germany....

A whole trainload of Beetles was commandeered by the french army in 1946....

maybe it was the french who wanted them and they weren't even asked ???
