OK...I'm tossing up whether to go to bed soon and set the alarm for some ungodly hour, or waste time later in the a.m. watching replays....Hmmmmm...Big decision time!!!!
For some odd reason I like to watch the opening ceremony...like to see what the country comes up with to outdo the previous...and MAYBE see something spectacular....
Hey...I still love what the Russians did...and it is still being copied...The audience slipping over cards to make different patterns in the stands....😎

LA and the grand piano's I could have done without....Spain was very cerebral.......
Is Greece going to be very temple ceremonial?...I love a good Zorba dance!!...Hey, no joke I do...love to dance at Greek cafes!!!

....and the teams are still coming out...so glad I didn't set the alarm....normal get up time if I was going to work....
Maybe I shoulda headed into the city to stand outside and watch it in the rain...yummmmmmm...or in a cafe..

Oops....I missed the show!!! but the official ceremony part was really nice...loved the music...speech was brilliant....Top class stuff from what I saw...The bells were an amazing touch before the flag came out...
Now I've gotta watch the highlights... :duh
I hope it all goes so well...we need something good to happen in the world...and I absolutely love Athens...one of my fav cities!!!:kiss

Honestly I've seen the best theatre ever in Athens...so what I saw in the highlights doesn't surprise me...brilliant :cool

I watched the replay of teh Sydney opening before the Greek open as well.

I started editing my post so it didn't look like I was talking to myself (as I do) with seperate posts....😀
...but then too much editing can look a bit dodgy looking as well!!.....:duh
Oh well...had a loooooonnnngggggg shower and all the widows are now fogged up...it's still raining and I have my Herman Munster hike boots on to wear then in....AND don't they make me feel that much more outdoorsy....

But then I might have a bias I love everything about Athens...and have always loved Greek Mythology...I had two birds called Eros (God of Love)and Eos (Goddess of Dawn).......they had many offspring....worse than rabbits!!! 😀
I spent ages at the Acropolis of Athens, and just sat and imagined what went on at the Theatre of Dionysus .....Hey I'm a Sag....the Centaur/Archer......Call me crazy!!

I have been suffering insomnia for the past few months.
So I watched the whole bloody lot. I liked it and I especially like the Denmark team. 🙂

im not biased or anything but the Sydney and Greek were totally differnt ceremonys...
I loved the Greek the most full of action, flying rocks of marble, the bass from the drumms and the dj pumping tunes
Loved the costumes of Greek mythology also
...all the music was brilliant....
Yeh I loved the drums as well...and the bells after the speech
Was that sculpture really marble.......god it was amazing the way they used it...moving it's parts around.....
See they are still using the audience...the Russians started that with the cards...Greece they used lights and bells....so effective....and it must make people feel more part of it 😎

i dont know for me the Sydney one was too artsy fartsy which isnt really me i tuned out half way thru it

Jen, you need to visit the north coast, you will see melbourne in a different light...
I know I do!!!...I took myself to a shopping centre to see a movie just to get out of the house!! Sunshine and warmth..nearly forgotten what it is like...I love it up on the North Coast...we used to stop in there every year when heading up to Far Nth Qld on hol's (pre resort times)...We used to take 6 weeks and camp in National Parks....good days!!
We can't compete with a history like Greece's...it was the birth place of the modern world...arts...sciences...AND the Olympics.... pretty incredible stuff...
Were would we be without our Victa's and Hills Hoists??? Part of every true Aussie home....:kiss
