OK I posted a pic of Bel my Type 1 with her pop outs in the other day...and someone suggested that the latches might be in upside down! :o
I've looked through catalogues, books and mags, and the Type 1 knobs do seem to face up
Dr Livingston my Type 3 Sqback has original pop outs...and his knobs are facing down.....
SO...do the knobs face up or down on the latches??
They should face up Jen!
recycle, restore, enjoy
Same thing has happened to another beetle as well......I've let Bert's owner know....he hasn't seen the latches in yet except for a pic I emailed...A bit disappointing....
I thought they faced up:alien
They should face up Jen.
Thanks guys....I needed a vote on it to be sure...
Any idea then why Dr L my Type 3's knobs are down...I doubt if his pop outs have been ever out of him?
maybe the rubbers got rplaced at one stage and put back together arse up...........?
they would probably be factory but its hard to tell...
I would thing facing up, cause imagine trying top open them from the front seat leaned over twisted to get your hand under there? Face them up Jen.....If your unsure, just look on thesamba for pics, Im sure there are a few pics....

They are factory....he's the type of car that has not had VW enthusiast time spent on him....
OK so when I get his touch up and rubbers done later this year (I hope)....I'll get them seen to...
No one has mentioned it too me???? :duh
You learn something new everyday!!! 🙂
.....Thanks guys.....

Very nice!!
...the knobs are so cute....so it makes sense not to hide it facing down...
Now the Dr's latches are going to annoy me until I get them fixed...lol

can you just swap one side to the other, that should turn them up😉
I'd imagine that's all it takes!!! 😉:sandrine
On Bel they can do it cos I'm paying for it to be done right....on Dr L...I'll go get the screw driver out.....🙂
Jen, Its quite easy on DR L As he has the type of latch that goes throught the glass, and its just a retaining pin that holds it in....But, getting it back in the car..thats another story...

......OK!!!..... :eek....I'll wait and leave it to the experts .....
