O.K. it's been a bit tough since coming back to Australia.
Film and TV industry - South East Qld - need I say more?

My choice is:

1. Go back to Primary School Teaching (gasps from the forum). I'm actually quite good with Kids - must be the inner child - DUH! So, Crapola money, but lotsa security.

2. Production Manager for an Animated TV Series. It's good dosh, but short term and high stress.

What would you do?

It must be whatever your passion is. Security is overrated, and so is money. My 2c

Which ever you enjoy the most.
If you enjoy doing what you do, it makes you good at it.
If it's just a job, your heart will never be in it.
Well my friends are gone & my hair is grey, I ache in the places where I used to play.

I'd take option one..... only cause primary teaching was my dream job, but you also have the security compared to option two. It doesn't really matter what any of us say, ultimately the choice us yours and you have to live with what ever decision you make.

Interview today for number 2. We'll see what happens!

Thanks again!

Then again you might stand out as an "outsider" in teaching.

For one you can actually spell, have an opinion that at least appears to be your own and you might actually want to make an impact on a kid's life!

number 2 sounds good and you drive a vw so you have to be able to handle stress, but follow the little voice we all try to shut up with alcohol, it wont lead you astray 😊blush

Hahahahahaha - you guys kill me!

The interview went well. Unfortunately, the travel and glory thing doesn't exist. It's animation - not live action (i.e. hanging around in a big room with compugeeks - similar to here on the forum, but at least I cant smell you guys).

Number 2 requires a big time commitment. I've been there before. Basically you turn the company into your family, and have to eat, sleep, drink the thing (20 hour days etc). Plus the 3 hours round trip there and back, and it's not looking too good for the real family I already have... It will cause stress at home, and I don't need it both at work and at play.

They didn't even quote a pay figure, so I'll see what they say. What do people earn here in media Production Manager Roles guys? (Film and TV peeps) I was on 60K in Germany, started my own company and earned 100K, and then the bottom fell out of the business (a long story).

Anyway, interview 1 is on Friday afternoon. It's starting to look real good (though the extra cash in number 2 would be good for my poor old Bay).

What is your heart saying?

Sounds like you're very creative....What do you teach...can you use your creativity in a class room?...and maybe do some good short animation in own time... show it at Film Festivals &/or sell it off to ABC/SBS??!!!!

....if the animation job is short term....is the short term stress managable if there's a nice pay packet involved?

1. Thou shalt have no other carss before veedubs
2. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image of any other marque
3. Thou shalt not take the name of VW in vain
4. Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy cruising only in a veedub
5. Honour thy father and thy mother - buy them a veedub
6. Thou shalt not kill a veedub - even if riddled with rust
7. Thou shalt not commit adultery by making out in the back seat of any other car
8. Thou shalt not bog - use steel
9. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour lapsing in his servicing duties
10. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's Ghia, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's Barndoor, nor his Okrasa engine, nor his oval, nor his Kubelwagon, nor under any circumstances his ass!, nor any thing that is in thy neighbour's shed
