My brother has a 2003 Hyundai Getz. It is quite a nice car but he thinks it is a 320kw GT Falcon. It has exhaust extensions, neon lights, whitelight headlights, and an Oakley sticker which can be seen from space. He should have bought a Golf.

maybe its just me but some ricers are extremely nice cars and have amazing amount of engineering put in them!!! i like R32 and R33 skylines and would love one but i agree about all the ones with neon's, overly done body kits, and all the other shiz i like just standard looking ones!!
but what the heck when i can afford 75 grand im buying an R32!
cheers

I too hate ricers.... they totally P me off but I have to be careful at the moment that I don't P any of them off cause I have For Sale signs on my car with my mobile number on them.

Just for laughs, Matt and I where driving yesterday and saw a Tarago with a fat exhaust on it..... Upon closer inspection it was a home made job, slotted over the existing exhaust which you could still see sitting on the inside. Just looked like someone had stuck a milo tin on it!!

mmm. most ricers around here seem to be a joke. one of the guys at school as a late model supra, full bodykit, wheels, the lot, completely black, but under the hood? THE STOCK ORIGINAL 6 CYLINDER! i am driving a stock automatic 1980s Ford Laser untill my bus is on the road, and it is one of the slowest beasts ever created, but i have still beat a couple of idiots for the first 100 odd meters (untill my buzzbox decides it is going to fast and shifts from 1st straight up into top (3rd) instead of second, a trick that cuts acceleration so quickly you would think i had hit the brakes!)

A few years ago, my friend Luke had a black Audi S3. This is the 165 kW version, and weighs about 1400 kg, but it's somewhat faster than a stock WRX, but looks ultra stealthy.

Luke, his wife Inger, Me, and my mate Paul were in the car on Bell St, and a Mario pulls up in his "hot" V8 Commodore. He was revving at the lights obviously wanting a race.

Well, when the lights turned green, Luke didn't even drop the clutch or anything like that, he just *went* and we beat the guy to 70 km/h (the speed limit) by a considerable margin. However this wasn't good enough for the Mario. He wanted more at the next lights. Not once, but three lights in a row Luke beat him, even though we were four up and he had close to 3.2 litres capacity and a 4" exhaust pipe on us.

It's just not fair. 🙂

Maybe this is just my sense of humour but still;
I saw one leaving a shopping centre a couple of weeks ago.
Three white boys, who had obviously mistaken themselves for boys from the hood, jammed into this ricey.
It had the mags, the paint job, the milo tin & the obligatory "doof doof" sound system that was worth more than the market value of the car.

Directly behind them............two asians in an XR8.

The world is totally fucked up.........😎
Well my friends are gone & my hair is grey, I ache in the places where I used to play.

Well iam going to go againts the trend here. I do not like ricers that area all about show. But i have a soft spot for fast big horsepower ricers. I can't stand the little excel's with big body kits and mags , but still have the std engine. But give me a worked nissan 180 (with 250plus rwhp) and nild body kit and you have a very fast car, at a good cost.

But i still love my beetle and would love one that could do the same for the same money. And wouldn't trade it for anything. but hey I can see that SOME ricers are good cars.
I have no sympathy for my car, only the wallet that pays for it!

I constantly have Ricers, commonwhores and other Shit box's trying to Drag me when I'm in my XR8.

( I Think my number plate "FLY N _ _ Provokes them)

But I must be getting old because I can't be bothered, I know it's fast so I don't have to prove it.

I even said to one Middle Eastern descendant who was driving a VT commonwhore through Preston,
"why do you want to embarrass your self in Front of you're Bimbo." 🙂

I guess people, especially us youngins, do up ricers superficialy because they are relatively cheap to buy, and cheap to add exhaust tips to and some crappy stickers.

Hi

There’s a sucker born every minute when you drive a quick bug. The thing about people that are on this forum is that they are not chequebook enthusiast, they get involved in every aspect of their car that they are able to, unlike most ricers

I work for a large motoring organisation and get to see a few ricers broken down. I love telling them that their sports air filters are waste of time if they are sucking in engine bay heat and are illegal as well. Also that their blow off valves to atmosphere are illegal.

I went to a really late Celica once with all the stickers etc, it had "racing bonnet clips", I asked the guy to open the bonnet himself because I didn’t want to stuff anything up on the "racing bonnet clips" I had to really bite my tongue when he opened the bonnet and I saw that the "racing bonnet clips" were only glued on the outside of the bonnet.

What about the ricers, spend a heap of money on a monster tacho when the car already has one fitted standard.

Saw a really sad roll cage in car, made out cardboard tubes covered in tinfoil.

My son is into Mazda's big time (just your normal 19yr old)
so before he got his licence I would take him to Jamboree
events etc.
With the ricers its all about speed & performance & whos goes fastest,.... with the VW community its about commaradere, loyality to the VW, friendlyness, share one love shall I say.
I always cop it from commodore drivers for some reason.
I get the laugh & snigger....then I wind down my window & ask them "How year is your model".
When they say "2 yrs, 1 yr or whatever they reply"
I then turn around & say to them "Come back in 43 yrs then we will see if yours is still around by then ....we can have a decent arguement"....heheheheehe

There are Ricers and there are Wankers.
There are the Genuine Turbo Japanese Performance Cars worth somewhere around $100,000 Plus, and good luck to them.

Then there are the Wankers who go to Super cheap Auto and buy Cheap imitation rubbish and stick it on there unroadworthy shit heaps.

A Milo tin exhaust tip, $25 Pod filter, Neon lights, some over sized Spoiler that looks a satellite dish and they think there staring on the Movie Fast and furious

But how many 18 - 25 year olds can afford to buy the real thing and than insure it.

I know young Drivers who are paying 4 times more for insurance than I am for a XR8 like mine.

Let them have there Fun, they will get over it one day after they Loose there Licence a few times. 🙂

I hate having people who try to drag me in my baja. I don't even think I could pop a burnout or spin the tyres with the 1500sp and wide rears i have with out breaking something. I get Ricers at the lights revving and wanting to go me and I just look at them with a dumfounded look on my face. I mean my baja is obviously higher than stock and is not built for street racing. I think it's the paint...

Umm, well i am with Kombi_kid and BiX. I have a 96 pulsar hatch and it has the best fuel economy ever. I get 700km to the tank (50L tank) and that is just fantastic i think. Its comfortable to drive and if i want it has a little get up and go. Then again i would not do any of the fake mod crap, if i'm gonna do anything its going to be for real. (rather spend my moolar on my kombi first though!!!)

its like the day a mate and i moved up from melbourne to sydney. i was in my dub and he was in his vn, he was following me. we stopped at the lights and this datsun 300zx pulls up next to me, and wants to drag me. ive got the bug packed with a third of the stuff i owned at the time so i cannot see out the back window. so i thought why not. not only did i beat him off the line but to the next set of lights as well. i stop at the next set as they were red. he pulls up next to me gives me a dirty look and wants to go again. so ive knocked it out of gear, put the hand brake on and put my hands behind my head. the light went red and i still beat him off the line and as my mate went passed him he put up a sign on a white board that we had to talk to each other saying "you have just been beaten twice by a stock bug. be ashamed be very ashamed"

it's not really wrong to drag race up to the speed limit...
little silly, little illegal, maybe. through pure chance I ended up dragging some dang ricey fool 6 times in a row.
first time he was just being a dork i expect, had no idea he was planning on launching. he beat me off the line. of course.
we line up at the next lights....
second time: he looks across at my rusted and shabby snot green flavoured lil innocent sleeper dub which has mysteriously pulled up next to him just as he stops:
(*is that the same VW that I left behind in a cloud of glorious tyresmoke and psshhh noises at the last set of lights?*)
*sweet smile* certainly is.
this time I let him go, but not as easily, hanging off just to the rear and matching his gear changes. getting the feel for his monumental downtaking now, we line up again... the adrenalin pumps... the testosterone is getting thicker, so thick in fact that my windscreen is now clouding like a kind of congealing gruel.
third set of lights, we don't want him to plead no contest, so we let it rev out to 3k on take-off. now we know where his peaks. god I'm evil. change at 5k in 2nd, then suddenly we're at the next set of lights. at the same time.
fourth time: righty, this time he's revving the shit out of his strangely foreign machine, mine's burbling dubly as I fight to see thru the ever -thickening testosterone haze on my windshield. now it's a point of honour for him instead of an easy win; things are looking a tad shakey in the "i fully dominated a dak dak on de streets today" stakes. we were no longer racing for fun, this was bigger than rego papers, bigger than texas, bigger even than his exhaust pipe. now we were racing for egos.
I leave the line at a stately 4k, slam it into second at 7k feeling the open diff try to slide me off my juggernaut-like course, and leave his ego limp and withered about 10 metres into the ride.
the fifth time goes much like the fourth, but this time I discover the limits of traction in a big way, smoking one wheel too long for a clean getaway, and deciding to back off as third gear quickly becomes TOO fast for comfort. it's an eighty zone. I slow up behind a cab that used to be in the far distance, and the nutbar shoots past me on the inside a few seconds later doing something like 150km/h. counting the shooting past me thing, which means he has gone faster than i can under brakes and behind a taxi, he beat me three times, i beat him twice at the lights and drew one for getting his measure.

I know it was wrong, but no egos were irreperably damaged. and he did have a bodykit, and twin little round taillights, and a turbo. I drove home smiling with my head hanging out the window like a dog (cause the windshield was strangely opaque) singing football songs.

eveything here was pure fiction. I am not a stupid street racer. I have grown to dislike taxis. my windscreen is very clear.

haha yeah maccas nunawading on a friday night, there will always be heaps of rice there. all the guys rekon they are hard asses too.
idiots.
its funny when you drag one of them off at the lights in a 4cyl 2.6L 89 holden rodeo, and you can keep up.
going over the railway line near there in the bug is fun. all the cars change into the other lanes as i go slow over the tracks (too low), but straight after the tracks i am up to 80km/h and everyone else is way way back in the rearview mirror.

At uni, we have a small street where there is free parking - we call it Honky Lane because all the ricers park down there. Big rims, bigger wings, Milo tins and an auto tranny. Nice. Its especially fun to watch them try to parallel park without scraping thier exy rims on the nice hard and jagged bluestone kerbs.

So if ricer cars are called ricers, what do you call the Merc's and Audis and BM's that are dumped on 19" chrome rims - when obviously they are just a c180 classis or a A4 or a 318i and not your C32 or S4 or M3...?
