Hi,
Am looking to put MP3/CD player in beetle.
Are there any brands you would stay away from? See lots of brands on ebay for funny (reasonable) amounts.

PIONEER 7650 is a good unit. I know in Auto bahn they are about 900 or on ebay for 400-500. Me mate got one from Autobahn and it is tops. Mine is coming from through an ebay company and should be here in a couple of days.

I bought #1 son an iPod for like $400.

You can hold absolutely heaps of stuff on it.

For $50 you can get an attatchment that plugs onto the toop and then you tune your FM radio into it and listen to your cd's that way

NO MORE CD's IN THE CAR!!!

Never loose a cd again!
No more wallets of cd's

and the best preprogramming ever

That is the way i am going from now on

except the quality isnt as good.......for decent sounding music u want to use CDA cds (the kind where u fit about 20 tracks on at a decent quality like when u go to the record store and buy your new iron maiden cd) MP3 reduces the quality a shitload and sure the new fandagled head units have these little noise dampener buttons and all stuff but its not the same as the better quality music on a normal cd. add to this the quality you lose from tuning it in via an FM frequency and your music wont be much chop. im not saying this isnt an awesome system because it is......i hate having cds in the car and getting them scratched etc. but if u want decent sounding music its not the best approach.

depends... I personally won't go for Sony, although they look good. I recon Alpine ofcourse but itz too pricy.. Pioneer would be cool 🙂

although i should be saving my money for other things, i just got a sony mp3 CDXR3300S and a pair of speakers. i looked at some of those unknowns on ebay but they concerned me a little so i just got a good name system when it was on sale.

although i'm no audiophile, i like its sound and 12hours of classic Rock & Roll on one CD cant be beat espesh when carving the dunes.

mp3 quality isnt an issue given wind noise and twin cannon exhausts in the buggy....

🙂

Alpine, Alpine, Alpine, Alpine.
thats all i can say.

I have both the Alpine CDA-7846E cd player, and the Alpine CDA-9807 MP3 player in my car.

Although Alpine has a few little probs.
when using other brad things like sound processors and amps, they don't mate up to well.
You don't get the maximum features that they have.

Ohh and the price is a little X-y

Had great success with a Pioneer with 4x50w amp embedded in the unit, a decent set of speakers of similar wattage and the system will sound great. Currently I prefer fanging around listening to the exhaust note. Music to my ears.....

I too was worried about the "noname " brands on ebay, but some say they are ok, for what they are. Weekends even better now starter motor fixed, glad the wires broke off on last trip before I got home.
