I have a nagging feeling my nuts aren't as tight as they should be , LOL. Seriously , Anyone local that can torque them up for me , don't have a torque bar or socket. I'm in Randwick , East Sydney.

NO NUT JOKES PLEASE!!

Cheers

Dan

You might be able to get a garage to torque them up for you with their rattle guns. I took mine to a local tyre place for loosening at no charge.

seriously go down and see kon at vw village in kensington he will look after you mate. never use a rattle gun on wheel nuts or studs as they are a pain in the $#$% to undo later

Just to clarify, I think dannyboy is referring to axle nuts (that require two hundred and something foot pounds of torque), not wheel bolts. I use an electric rattle gun to do the job but I am in brissy so unfortunately can't help you out there. Best of luck. Your cars looking sweet by the way!

If your nuts are seriously loose you would get a seepage of oil on the swing axle g/boxes.

geese, my dog just made a BOLT for the door... (not nuts)

Hi Danny

I have a 3/4 inch torsion wrench, drop me a line and you can pop in if you like and I will tighten them for you. You would be surprised how little tension you need, I can do them to the correct torque with 1 hand.

What are those torque-meister tools like for doing this job?

Guys the nut i'm on about is the one that needs to go to 286ft/lb or something. The one you have to take off when replacing rear drums. I was warned against a rattle gun so was done with a very large breaker bar and a steel pole! I just want to make sure. Since lowering the rear of the car i'm getting a few weird noises and i want to check the drums just to be sure.

Cheers Dan🙂
