got a call from a lady on friday, she was the owner of a late model mazda 626 sedan and she had woken up to discover one jacked up car and 4 missing mag wheels. now the mazda 626 is no supercar, the mags were stock standard alloy crappers that probably cost $15 ea to manufacture in taiwan and the car had been in her driveway...

the situation was made worse by the fact she was moving house on the weekend!! the car on blocks was also blocking access to the trailer and garage.....

i really felt for the lady, insurance was going to take 2 weeks to solve her problem so i did my best to get her a solution. after much running around i ended up finding some mazda 6 rims with tyres on them hiding in a corner of the dealership, and after some investigation found they would fit a mazda 626 with only the offset out by 5mm. i sent out the mobile van and got them to fit them for her free of charge...i was going far beyond my duty to help her but if felt for her...

anyways, they got her on the road for the weekend to move house and today she picked up her new wheels and tyres, is temporarily $3000 out of pocket until the insurance company re imburses her and i got a scratchie. (woohoo!! i dont do good things to get rewarded but i was really hopin for some beer instead of a $3 dollar scratchie, not that i was un appreciative...)

a) anyone got similar tales??
b) did i deserve more then a $3 scratchie?? i thought i did but feel equally shortchanged and guilty for feelin that way!!!

I think you just made a $3000 sale, what are you complaining about? The rest is just good PR... what goes around, comes around. 🙂

As she probably
A.. didn't want to embarass you with a big reward
B.. didn't wish to assume you are a pisshead.
C.. was wishing the scratchie was a big winner
I think she did the right thing, and so do I. Consider it more Karma in the bank

I've turned down quite a few dollars and beers helping people out on the side of the road. It's incredible how many people can't change a tyre or even know where their jack is located!

Helped a guy in a kombi put his fan belt on another time at the bottom of Mt Victoria I even had a front pulley in the car to replace the one he busted up trying to lever the fan belt over the pulley. I took his five bucks for the belt and pulley but normally wouldn't bother.

Helping someone in need is often enough.

in the servo where I work we still do driveway service, fill people's cars, clean windscreens, check oil stuff like that. We get a lot of old people because of this. Bout a year ago had this frail old lady come in and explained that the tyre was flat on her car and she was going down to the coast and she could not change it herself, and she didn't have a husband any more and could I help in any way. A fair while later I had changed this lady's tyre over (was nearly impossible to get the spare out and find the jack, she had no idea where it was) and was now completely covered in dirt from the driveway. She couldn't stop saying how thankful she was and everything and now she's a regular customer.

~air fooled~ you are obviously a good person for doing what you did,
and yes it would have been nice to get a case of piss, but
hopefully what goes around comes around.

Isn't the act itself reward enough? I know I sure feel good doing stuff for other people (where I can).

You didn't help her thinking - "She's gonna be a closet Millionaire, and reward me with a mint Dub" now did you?

guys,
keep being nice to people. sometimes it doesn't even seem worth it, but it is. otherwise you end up cranky and twisted like the rest of the world.

I have some friends from Africa. they are refugees. when they moved here the thing thye said was, anyone in australia is happy to help them with directions or advice or a lift or anything. Apparently, anywhere else they've been that's just unheard of. If this is what being australian is about I reckon its a good thing. so keep it up🙂

I've helped a lot of people out of real trouble in the past with things like for example. Going 4w driving and finding people Bogged in the Mud so I pull them out, Jump Start flat batteries, fixing broken down Cars, Spare parts I have and they need, Tools, Towing Cars, giving people lifts and even helped some Close friends with Money.

BUT RECENTLY WHEN I NEEDED HELP, I REALISED IT ALWAYS COST ME something to get help.

:cussing

It's kind of my fault, On the ware occasion somebody offers to pay me, I always refuse payment or reward because I'm HAPPY TO HELP. I would feel embarrassed about excepting there money anyway.

So it looks like I'm still waiting for the GOOD KARMA to come my way.

It might be quicker and easier to be an ARSE HOLE. 😉

hey Fooled!

for a job i pack parachutes for the army.
you would not believe the amount of people that complain that the parachute opened hard or to soft or some other stupid thing.
Now these people don't even pay for the pack job.
It is also the same people that realise everytime they have a go at me it always opens hard.
Now there are a few guys that appreciate what i do by saying thankyou and doing small things that make it a little easier.
It is these guys that always have smooth openings and happy landings.

so it just goes to show that if you treat people nice, then they will do the same for you.

Ah yes,
but who made that little paddle that they gave to you when you finished your course at Richmond 😉 Mind you, I was told that we did get a carton of beer for the last 60-80 that were churned out (just joking okay, never know when I may have to trust your handiwork....) 😀

i'm kind of along the lines of Flying VW, i'm always the first to lend a hand and the last to get a hand up.......i'm waitin for karma to catch up with me and do me a favour for a change instead of being out of pocket or so for doing others favours.....as in this occasion when i was grilled by asshole boss for goin out of my way to do the lady a favour. but hey, i'll still continue to do these good deeds, i just like occasionally getting something back for the time, effort and money invested....but yeah, ill be pissed off if i dont go to heaven hahahahaha :P:P😀😀:jesus:jesus
