anyone know?
cheers
Costa...
That is the profile 165.
you mean whats the lowest profile 15 inch tyres come in
Ive seen 195 x 45 and 205 x 40 as well but they ride like a buggar
What size rims do you have on the car.
Ive got the standard rims 15"
ok maybe i should be clearer whats the lowest side profile u can get for 165 x 15's
i know the stock its 165x15x55 and it is what i have
but wondering can u get 165x15x 45?
Got to pick you up there Dave. 165 is the width, not the profile. My tyre joint tells me that the lowest profile 165 available is a standard 165R15, 175/65R15 are available. Smart car tyres are available in (I think) 145/65R15.
so are the 165's standard on beetles 165 x 55 or 165 x 65?
So without going to 145's cos i want these for the rears
You cant get 165's in a 45 profile?
Ring Tyremaster Costa - found they have the best range of books.

i believe 165's only come in 1 profile. i was enquiring about this a while back with a mate who owns a tyre shop and thats what he told me. maybe asks antiquetyres.com.au
Volkspower is right, 165 is the width, the second number is the sidewall height expressed as a percentage of the width, the last number is obviuosly the diameter.
So a 165/65-15 has a side wall 65% as high as its width, that is why a 165/65-15 is a lower profile than a 205/65-15. I'm not sure if a 165/65-15 exists though, doubt it.
A standard replacement type tyre for a bug is either a 155/sr-15 or a 165/sr-15. The sr is roughly the equivalent of 80% (i think).
A 165/45-15 would be like a rubber band (if it existed, which I'm sure it doesn't)
Sizes also vary between brands, eg, a Michelin 165/sr-15 is alot narrower and lower in profile than say a Hankook 165/sr-15, all very confusing hey?
Hope this makes sense🙂

Thanks for the info man
i just got the dilemma of putting the 135's on the front it sits a lot lower than the back im thinking either winding down the rear another notch or a lower prifile tyre at the rear
hmmm i think its easier to wind it another notch
I am looking for some low profile 165 x 15's.
They now only come in one size which is about 80.
I am after a 165 x 55, or 65 x 15 but no one does them.Every tyre place I talk to tell me that only Hankook, Nankank and Yokohama are the only ones making 165 x 15 tyres and they only come in one size profile which woks out to be about 80.
Cheers

i have seen 165/50/15
they are a falken, and cost $150 each.
that is from bob jane.
some people are like slinky's
they have no useful purpose
but they are fun to watch
when you push them down the stairs
sweet thanks man
wind it down a nother noch 🙂🙂 LLLLLOOOOWWW is the way 2 go costa
hehehe well its going down on Saturday 😉
Beware going too low a profile tyre, there is far less protection for the rim with these 40 and 45 profile tyres. This means that any bump transfers the shock into the rim and the car. We're talking buckled rims here, around $100 to get straightened each time it happens. Roads are crap around here, low profile tyres and nice looking rims suffer too much damage. A 60 or 65 profile has a much better cushioning effect for the rim and is a better, more intelligent option for the road. 30 or 40 are great for rally flat surfaces, no bumps.......As a side benefit the bigger tyres are much easier on the wallet too.
Buzzbug.
I have tried bob jane here in Adelaide and they cant get the Falken tyres,
Do you have the phone number of the one near you so I can call them.
Cheers
Dave
I really don`t believe a 165/50/15 exists.
I`ve seen 175/55/15`s which I think SMART cars are fitted with, I think it was a UK site though so have to check with an Aussie tyre specialist.
also when you go down in profile your revs increase as you have a smaller rolling diameter
