Hi Folks,
I told My Son, [a spraypainter] to paint My Steering column silver, same colour as the dash and car...

Does it look OK... or...

Should I paint it??

Comments...

Very nice. You've got your own Drag Christmas tree lights on the right of the dash too, except the amber is in the wrong place.

Column looks good in silver, and in my opinion the gauge panel on the right would look good silver too - not sure if it is possible to paint (plastic?), but thats my 2c.

Well it looks at though the Silver steering column stays
painted with Mitsubishi silver metallic paint....

Thanks for the kind comments...

Now, should I have the steering wheel boss painted the same colour?

I believe it will blend in better as the steering wheel centre is already a silver colour...

The lights on the side.. with the ignition ON :

Amber : the electric Fuel pump is switched off...
Red : another oil pressure light - another sender unit.
Blue : Driving Lamps ON
Amber : Auto Transmission Fluid High Temperaure Lamp.

the colored lenses can be swapped about easily....
I am going to have to label them some way...
a bit confusing even to Me.... I thought they may have been out of place... but they look good in the photo..

There is also another lamp in the speedo for ATF Temp...
A standard feature for Semi Auto Beetles...

Are We there yet???
Is it finished Yet?? 🙂🙂

No Dave,

Just because Volkswagenwerk could spit these beauties out at 1 every 60 seconds .. I like to take My time...

If I could just finish it straight away... I would Dave...

I try to do something every day... and every time I drive somewhere I wish I were driving MY Beetle...

One of My Sons, is Spray Painter and I help Him a bit now & then.. usually with electrical things.. and the temps are getting warmer.. I have to keep thinking of the Air conditioner for the Beetle... although I really would like to just finish the beetle and get it registered before fiddling about any more, as it may take a while to make up the bits for the Compressor bracket etc.. My Son is welding up some bits for Me that I have, to make a New Oil Filler - as the original is really in the way of the compressor...
I have some bits to pick up from the Muffler man, so My 2 exhausts will come out from UNDER the rear valance and up & then out... I didn't want to cut the fibreglass rear valance, as I May fit extractors later on...
the headliner is clipped in place.. the wrinkles where it was folded for 8 years that I know of, are still showing up..
I am thinking of trying a hand held domestic steam cleaner to see if that would work..
