As aussie veedubbers is the place to come for info on everything...

I had some (very) minor surgery last week. How long do I have to keep the stitches dry? They are coming out next friday, but the waterproof bandages itch me like mad.

Didnt think to ask the doctor.

Last time I had some I took them out after the second day. The doc said keep dry for a few days and he'd remove them the following week.

I guess it depends on where they are, how deep and how well you heal.

5-8 days, but you can go buy waterproof spray from the chemist...I've had afew sunspots cut-out and I was still able to go diving and surfing with the spray on

Amazer you should be right getting them wet now but always best to keep the area clean and dry as much as possible when not washing/showering....

You can get some of that clear dressing from the chemist...they don't cost much and can be left on until Friday if the area is likely to get dirty like on hands...

Just make sure they don't start looking red or mucky, but really should be right left alone...

Nah Amazer if anything get the clear dressing...spray-ons are not that good, a very old product and not used these days

Clear dressings may itch for a bit but that is the healing happening under them...They are designed to have a chemical action between the fluid from the wound and what is contained in the dressing....they may look mucky and a lot of people take them off thinking that it's infected...but don't....when the dressing comes off the wound has usually healed completely....Believe me...They should stay on for a week......
