What is the worst thing you have done to your VW?
I have just added a fire extinguisher to my bug, took a lot of time to drill holes through the front firewall to attach it 'under the dash', dash being used loosely here. At the end, looked real good...until I tried to drive and found that I had mounted it too far down and I was getting my shoe / foot caught behind it when I used the clutch!
Doh! Just finished moving it....had to drill new holes to move it and now I just keep seeing those 3 brand new, useless holes....argh....!
Put twin webers on my beetle about 3 weeks ago, it hasn't been on the road since - can't get the buggers working right:cry

hmmmm worst thing ive done to a vw? drove it to work during brisbanes torrential rains in january. then spun and pranged 🙁 call me strange (and some ppl do) but i dont drive in the rain now.
in the beginning, the universe was created.
this made alot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move.
Back in 93 some mates and I were racing around the back of Clifton beach in Tassie on some old gravel roads in a 64 beetle. The poor old girl couldn't quite hack it. The front lefthand wheel came off at about 60mph as we went screaming around a corner. The frontend dug in and the old girl did a couple of rolls and stopped on her roof.
I ahave to admit we were all pretty well off our heads at the time, but the real shoker was all 5 surfboards on the roof were smashed to bits. At 17 you board seems to mean more than your car when you live on the beach.
As you can imagine I had fun trying to exsplain the accident to the old man.

The worst thing I did to my kombi was leaving it parked in my front yard.
Some **** crashed a stolen car into it then did a runner on foot. Luckily the NRMA paid to have a whole new nose welded on, though I still had to cough up the excess.

Cut up 2 perfectly good beetles in the early eighties to make Bajas.
Dropped a 59 double door & a 58 kombi at Werris Creek tip before I moved.
Well my friends are gone & my hair is grey, I ache in the places where I used to play.
welded up the dash in a 58 rag and welded in cage mounts
(it was the early 80's!! i was young!!!)
put me kids in the back with their friggin' sticky fingers:duh
and sold a 59 for 1k 16 years back🙁
hey phat bug i rolled my dub a few years ago and the dent in the roof looked pretty much the same. on the drivers side though. i was about 6foot4 at the time. to sit normal after the roll my head had to be tilted toward the middle. i was lucky. i walked away. the car could be driven, but after that i didn't want to

Let's see, that would either be breaking a bottle of 20 year old port in the back, so it seeped under/into the wooden floor. Or given it back to the boss so it could be turned into the spare parts van. Okay so it was the Canberra VW Assist van, but everyone reckoned it was mine🙁
