Thanks to all for the well wishes @ my trip.
I had a ball.
Visited Amsterdam, Germany....Wolfsberg castle, Autostadt & did the VW tour,
visited the VW Museum, went to Holland for a wedding, then to VW Euro (a 3 day VW event) so many piccies to post on when I load them....
The VW community obviously is huge there, so many different VW's to drool over, but bearing in mind we also have great VW's here too.
Ther must of been a few thousand people there camping & attending.
Just to give you a idea of the size of this thing, think of the biggest circus tent you have seen & thats just the size of the food/beer/meal tent. so you can guess then how big this is.
Lots of swap meet stalls & trade stands but nothing we can't get here.....
Nice to see how the other side of the VW world lives.
They love the back chrome racks on the bugs rear deck lid look with the esky & cane picnic basket on it.....& they don't say "beetle" they refer to it as "Kafer" & they don't say the word "Kombi" they are "T2's" so just getting used to that is different.
they have some nice looking VW's over there & then soom real weird stuff. (like the type 3 front & the kombi back end one used as a postal/mail van
Anyway I will post some pics on asap.

Yep thats the same type of VW I saw.....amazing car.
Amsterdam is great even walked over to the Red Light District for a look see....what a education...girls in shop front windows peddleing their wares shall we say.....hehehe
Pics go in to develop tomorrow & I will load the digital later.
& hopefully Tazz can put some of these on here for you all to see. The prices of the VW's over there for sale were a shocker.
VW Euro 2004 cost 7 euros for parking & 20 euros for admission for 2
We walked around with a calculater & converted the prices into aussie $ of the bugs for sale....
So I will give you a run down, most of these cars were of good condition.....
'56 oval 4 sale $8620.00
'55 4 sale $1413.00
'59 4 sale $7090.00
'64 4 sale $7844.00
To buy a beer there was just over a $1
Petrol in Holland ... Super 134.6
Diesel 93.5
LPG 47.3
Petrol in Germany prices...
Super 121.9
Diesel 100.9
Petrol 119.9
I saw a few 70's bugs on the road the whole time I was there travelling & only 2 kombis (except near & around VW Euro) You don't see them on the roads over there much.
Some of the VW's I saw on the roads were:
VW Polo's & Lupo's
VW Sharron Wagon
VW Touran TDI Van (people mover)
VW Caddy Van
VW Comrade (looks like a golf fastback?)
VW Transporters used as ambulances
VW Golfs are used as Poice Cars
Mercedes (sedans & Van's)
& VW used as Taxi's
Overall I had a great time & would do it again tomorrow.

say "beetle" they refer to it as "Kafer" & they don't say the word "Kombi" they are "T2's" so just getting used to that is different.
"Kaefer" is the literal translation of the word "Beetle" in German, Kombi's are "VW Busses" in German, and the word "Kombi" actually means station wagon, regardless of the manufacturer e.g. a Passat Kombi is a Passat station wagon.
Welcome back Jude. Do you still want Sabine as a DJ for dubfest? We're working out how to fit everything in the VW Bus, erm, Kombi.
You also forgot to say that the Euro prices are nearly double that of the aussie dollar, so Petrol is about $2 a litre. OUCH!
Hey Judy
Glad you had a great time! it definately goes too quick, just as you get used to it you have to come home!
Looking forward to a coffee and a look at your snaps.

lol at Penguin...
Penguin you would love Amsterdam & Holland as they bicycle around there everywhere.
Pushbikes are the way to go everywhere...& not a single bike helmet was worn the whole time I was there.
Never seen so many bikes in my life.
Just near the Amsterdam Station they have build a double storey bicycle park to lock your bike up there....amazing.
Also the aussie dollar is only worth just over 60c compared to 1 Euro dollar
