my buggie is going for its safety certificate check next week, and I would really like to do as much as I can so the shop doesn't have to do as much 😉
I notice many of you don't have reverse lights on your cars. Is a reverse light compulsory in Qld?
I tried searching already...

not that I know of, non of mine have. But I suppose if one is fitted it has to work??
nah its not compulsory on pre 68 cars 🙂
Basically if it didn't roll out of the factory with one, and you don't have one fitted now, you don't need it for roadworthy's, etc. Its the same with many other things on our 'classic' cars.....seatbelts, indicators....etc.
On the subject of lights, I saw mention above of 'pre 68 cars', my 69 doesn't have them and it passed fine...and in fact my 71 bug didn't have them either up in QLD and it was fine too. Depends if they were fitted originally.

how about rear seat belts? I noticed that only the left seat has a seat belt in the rear

Also can somebody with experience tell me what else I've left out to get RWC?
1. Called mechanic and booked the car in to fix the handbrake and gear bushes. also a safety check
2. organised 3rd party insurance for the day
3. downloaded unregistered vehicle form, filled it in and waiting for insurance to arrive by mail, then get permit from Qld Transport
will I need anything else? a fire extinguisher possibly?

seat belts are the same as the reverse light, if not fitted then you are not required to have them (rule in VIC)
road worthy here doesn't require a fire extinguisher but its a good idea to buy one anyway (cheap insurance against engine fire)
