Hi there

I am looking at purchasing a beetle - but for the price I want to get someone to look at it. Problem is that my vw mechanic is in Sth melbourne - and the prospective beetle is in Melton - and the owner reluctant for us to take it south melbourne.

Does anyone know anyone around the Melton area that would go take a look at it - the owner suggests RACV but am a bit sceptical about not taking it to a VW expert??

Howdy, I don't know Melb too well, but check the Business Directory above to check out a few names that may be closer 😉

Burwood isn't that far is it? In Burwood, Florence Ave, there are the nice Volkspower people.

In Moorabbin there are some dodgy people that ripped me off.

In Springvale there's "Imported", on Boo-something (Booloora?) Street. Seems like a good guy, though I've been warned to beware of pricing.

Yeah, I'm from the eastern suburbs.

Good luck mate.

Hi,
we do a free 15 minute inspection or we can do a full 2 hr inspection where we do all the RWC items and check things like engine comps, gearbox noises, panel fit etc etc for around $125.
Cheers
Chris

If Sth Melb is too far, then I reckon Volkspower are definitely too far away, unless they make housecalls.

If they are serious about selling it, they would be happy to let you have it checked out by experts. What have they got to hide. You are right, better to get an aircooled VW expert rather than the RACV

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I don't think he has anything to hide particularly - he's an ol' boy and probably cautions of us 'young'ns' taking his beetle across town. But anyway, he ended up agreeing to it - so we take it to VolksAffair in south Melb tomorrow am (let's see how it checks out!!)...

Interested to know who the 'dodgy' people are in Moorabin that was mentioned in a reply??
