As far as i am aware it is compulsory to vote if you are on the registry, but not illegal not to register... Thus if you dont register then you dont have to vote.. but then you dont have the right to complain about the government either. 😠
i was in america a few months ago and i was working (illegally) at the california fair (selling cookware...yes yes i know hahaha), anyway, what i did was went around to the different parties and got free stuff out of them, and then told them i was an aussie and that barely anyone knew who our 'president' was hahah. they had no-idea about anything in aus..crazy.

You cant really expect americans to have any idea about anything that goes on down here, or anywhere else for that matter.
if its not on their doorstep it doesnt mean squat.
when half of sydney was on fire a few years ago it got about 5 seconds of newsplay... thats the only way my rellies over there had any idea about it.
and when i was 12 and went over to visit, the kids in the neighbourhood thought that we walked on the ceiling because we were from "down under".
im not saying all of america is like this, and i know some lovely american ppl who i converse with quite often, but its almost like you have to go out of your way to educate yourself about anything thats not from the US when you live there.
in the beginning, the universe was created.
this made alot of people very angry and is widely regarded as a bad move.
waste of time trying to educate the yanks. Individually there are some awesome americans, but as a nation.... Denial is the national pastime. They still think 'terists' done 9/11..... wake up Billy Jo, your President lied to you!!!!! And they impeached Clinton for knobbing his secretary FFS!!! idiots!
