Hi there

This is a three part question - hope someone can help...

* If my beetle has a bent torsion bar (definitely) and possible frame head - can this be rectified by just changing the pans - or can it only be rectified by having it straightend at the panel beaters??

* If swapping is an option - can a 70 1500 bug be put onto the pan of a 70 superbug (ie are they compatible??)

* Yes to the above - how do I check that the pan is in good nick and worth building on - is pulling everything off the only option??

Dumb questions to you experts - sorry but I will be one by the time I'm finished then can repay....

It might just be easier to get another pan if the front end is all out of whack. Depends how much you can find one for, because i would imagine it would be an abolute pain to straighten it.

you cant put a '70 Standard shell onto a superbug pan unless you figure out how to make some strut towers and fit them into your Non strut shell as supers have a macpherson strut front end.

The frameheads dont usually get bent very easily, however its pretty easy to see if a beam is bent. Brakes you would want to completely rebuild anyway. The rest is pretty straightforward.

Ok - so if easy to see - how?? Is it just a matter of getting unde the car and looking - or what?? Am going to go for a drive tomorrow to where she sits at the mo - so how do I tell??

A big decision which has to be made in the next few days depends on whether this vw can be saved - so need to know what to look at when we go tomorow.....

Hope someone can help....
