Hi all
How much would you guys pay for a 1970 superbug complete - except for engine?? Reasonable condition - would eventually need paint job and some intereior work - and we are going to take another look today to look more closely.
But can you give me an idea of what you would pay for a basic one. ??

Any broad round figures would be a help.....:thumb:
Can anyone help - leaving in about 1/2 hour to go and check it out closely (2 hours awaY). Fact is it is already mine - but without going into a long story (which I have from time to time on various posts), we need to weigh up our options and figure out what we are going to do - and knowing how much we would get for it would be a huge help in starting to figure my dilema out........
to be honest mate.. this isnt a question anyone on here can answer for you.. because the condition of a car is impossible to guess..
if you can get some pics of it for us to see.. that'd give us somwhere to go from..

Yeh - thought it was a long shot - will try and get some pics today - then we might have something to go by hey??
PS - we don't have a digital camera, can we take normal pics, develop them and then scan them (still catching up on the technology of today!!)
Didnt Superbugs come out in 71.....
the 70 model has a torsion bar front end...and Swing axle rear end
with the super bug having a strut front end... and IRS rear end
so make sure you look at this n decide which one you want
I think (??) we have decided to let the superbug go - and focus on my 1500 smashed up one.
superbug may well be a 71 - I thought we were told it was a 70 but we bought the whole purchase was a mistake in many ways (as it turns out with our new plans)....
Thanks for all your help anyway
yeah superbug came out in 71 and has a Strut front end....
the models before were 1500s
so this relates to the other post u had.... might be better of welding a new bulkhead onto the old chassis ... or you could graft one onto the Strut chassis.. its been done before and makes for a good handeling car
Thanks dude
I have so much to think about with all of this (which is why I've been on this site night & day making a nuicance of myself)....
I've owned a few beetles in my time - but never actually worked on any and really don't know anything technical about them - but I've learnt heaps in the last few days - thanks to you and everyone on here.
So we think we are going to attempt to rebuild our smashed 1970 1500 - but still figuring out exactly how bad it is - and what we can expect to fix it. Superbug becomes totally irrelevant now....
Thanks again
wehn I hear 70-71, I automaticly think rust!:cry
Interesting.....
Am in the process of getting some pics developed/scanned - will post some if the turned out oK....
