Just drove my kombi for the first time, I went to the shops and got some petrol, it was onlya half an hour drive but I was laughing out loud all the way , got waves off two beetles and one even stopped in the road to have a good look.
I was stopped at the traffic lights and I am smiling and laughing , the people next to me must have thought was a right idiot.
I cant help it after 3 and a half years I cant believe i AM DRIVING IT.
The missus has just read this and said that she is excited as know its finished she might get some of the jobs she wants doing round the house done.

i think this is a common affliction (sp?)

when you spend such a long time restoring a vehicle the satisfaction at the end is magnified!!!

enjoy it!

It is such a good feeling. I love those first drives. They are one of the joys of life. Enjoy it while it still has that rebuilt smell. Soon enough it will have half full hot coke bottle rollong around in the back and bill stuffed under the seats.

Great work Dave, It's a great feeling
If you feel that good imagine how the van feels after being off the road so long.

First time I drove my split I pulled up at some traffic lights and three schoolkids said peace man and gave me the peace sign. 🙂

Dave, one question for ya:-

How do people see your indicators at night when your headlights are on???

Love the bus, and the handle you sent fits perfectly!

Thanks

Steve

The indicators are really (really) bright and there is no probs.
To be honest I havent driven it at night yet, but I have checked the indicators.
I only fitted the US spec ones as I didnt want to mess about fitting bullets or more on the bumpers, had to on the rear though.
Cheers

Too right.

One thing I love about the bus, it is so differant from anything you see on the roads.
That is why I dont like the new vw busses, they look like Transits or Mercs.
Cheers
