Fastback popouts dont have frames, the glass just bends! :o

Just gets better & better. Wonder if the rubbers are on ebay?
I need some more of this bendy glass, where do you get it from?
Ain't nothin' like the wind in your hair.
Well. I have 2 bits in my fastback... but they havent bent for a long time.
I dont think you can get popout rubbers in calook style. You can only get them with chrome strip groove. Hence my fastback LOOKS like it has popouts but it dont 😉 I built mine a few years ago, things may have changed.

You cannot get popout rubbers from WCM.....
NOS only....
I hope you have lots of dollars......

Bugger!
Anybody got a set of fast back pop out rubbers they want to sell?
Ain't nothin' like the wind in your hair.
go to a rubber specialist. they should have something on a roll that should either be perfect or close to.
a freind made a set of popouts for his beetle using mitsu express van hinge & latch, rubber off a roll and a bit of tinted tempered and predrilled glass made off a cardboard template...
But those fastbacks rubber would have been especially made
it looks normal for the first part then the glass just bends outwards... NO Hinges etc... just the latch...
You just put the closed window in as normal , then attach the latch.... then bend the glass....
I've Never seen any other vehicle with bendy glass...

Wonder if you could make any money out of doing it as a party a party trick. It surprised me when I took mine out and I couldnt find a hinge.
My parents would have liked some of that bendy glass when I was a kid playing soccer/cricket.
The rubber is certainly different. Was a long time ago, but I think there is metal inside the rubber (at the non pivoty end) or something. Otherwise the glass would probably fall out when the window was opened.
The mitsubishi trick would probably work fine, so long as you didnt HAVE to have the original look.

yes, not for the original lookers but good for a baja one the beach needing airflow. tinting wont come off either...😎
